  1. Meta Data and XML specifications are soon to be a common term among the audio / HTPC crowd (if they're not already). If you haven't already seen the MusicBrainz style guide, you should certainly give it a look to see what can be done with proper tags and labeling. MusicBrainz Style Guidelines http://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style On the other hand, if the mere mention of XML specifications makes you break out in hives and you are looking for a library solution more tailored to Classical & Jazz material (that works out of the box), check out the MusiCHI Suite, it probably has what you are looking for in terms of what data is captured and displayed. 2. Not exactly sure how this flew under the radar; but I'm grabbing the ISO now, and looking forward to throwing it in VMware later tonight. Looks like the site went up a few weeks back, anyone else given this a go? Audiophile Linux Audiophile Linux is the operating system optimized for high quality digital audio reproduction. Created by audiophiles for the audiophiles, AP-Linux is easily installed, user friendly, and absolutely free. Install it like any other GNU/Linux distribution and enjoy the music playback with latencies under 10ms. Audiophile Linux comes with everything you need for playing your audio and video files. Audiophile Linux features: System and memory optimized for audio perfection Custom Real-Time kernel version 2.6.10 Lightweight window manager Pre installed audio and video programs Lightweight OS, free of unnecessary daemons and services Standard Linux distributions are designed for running servers or desktop usage. AP-Linux distribution is designed for high quality audio only. The unnecessary services and daemons, included in standard Linux distributions, have been removed and their negative influence on audio playback made impossible. Printing and some other network services running in background of the standard Linux distributions, use the CPU and memory and are completely useless for audio reproduction. AP-Linux distribution includes the lightweight XFCE desktop environment and highly configurable and low resource demanding X11 window manager called Fluxbox. XFCE is easier to use, but the Fluxbox is faster, lighter and less demanding. I use Fluxbox window manager for more than seven years and can highly recommend it.
  3. No relationship with Audiofile Engineering, just saw the article come across my RSS Reader and figured I'd pass along the information. Seems like this is the latest software package to incorporate the IZotope MBIT + algorithm, how many organizations are using it anyway? Best, Steve Audiofile Engineering, creators of professional audio software for Mac OS X and iOS, announce Triumph (on sale for $59.99 through November 16) as a follow-up to the company's Wave Editor audio editing application and a solution for sound design, editing, mastering, and CD layout. Available as an app for Mac OS 10.7.0 or higher (10.7.5 recommended), Audiofile describes Triumph software as an “audio designer,” with a newly redesigned interface, and new features and functionality.Triumph offers single window and full screen support, with a completely rewritten audio system and improved arrangement and mastering features that are all fully 64-bit. 5. Finally a post that drew me out of lurk mode; I stumbled across an older Playstation 3 today and started diving into the documentation on the sacd-ripper and was wondering if anyone has been able to do this by doing a Physical -> Virtual conversion of the PS3 via VMware [ESXi or Fusion] or even with the Java version of ps3mediaserver? Seems like this is perfectly doable, I'm curious if anyone done anything similar?
