  1. http://www.amazon.com/LaCie-d2-DVD-RW-LightScribe/dp/B001RQ13ZW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1299181649&sr=8-7 Is this the one you have?
  2. Let me explain. I have a new Macbook pro and will be ripping a fairly large CD collection. A while back I purchased an OWC Mercury pro external that would not rip CD's from certain companies (Some Rhino discs and Hip-O select) due to their copy protection. I then returned and received a different drive from OWC which did the same thing. I am looking for a solid, dependable external optical drive that will rip copy protected discs as well as everything else. I can't seem to find a definitive forum or site that helps me out with my decision. Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
  3. I am looking to purchase an external optical drive that will pretty much rip anything and everything I put in it. I am using it with a brand new Macbook Pro. My problem is that I purchased an external from OWC and was not able to rip a few Rhino UK cd's and a few other CD's from other labels had copyright issues. I have never had a problem ripping these discs with my internal drive on the mac...but I am ripping a very large collection and would like to use a secure external. Please...any suggestions or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I'm not quite sure what that means...but all three of them are Rhino Records UK.
  5. I actually use XLD to rip my cd's and I always have the most recent version. I can't get a log of the the rip because xld and iTunes won't even rip the discs. You are using an internal matshita drive and I never had a problem with my internal drive.
  6. I have an ibook g4 (internal optical drive died on me) and I am using a OWC Mercury Pro Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Samsung Super-WriteMaster™ External DVD writer for my optical needs. I purchased the drive for the sole purpose of ripping my music library. First off: I have multiple cd's that it reads but when it plays it sounds muffled and distorted (encryption issues?). I have also ripped a few cd's where it makes a skipping noise on some of the tracks yet the cd is brand new and plays fine on other drives. All I want is a reliable drive/computer that I will be able to make quality lossless files with and not have these stupid little problems. Help!
  7. I am mainly going to be using it with my iPod classic and Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic Surround Sound Professional Headphones. Just looking to have some nice clean sound and a little more juice yet be portable.
  8. I am looking for a decent/reliable headphone amp that is relatively portable. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  9. Well I do a lot of ripping and I have been running with apple lossless. I just want the best quality rip and XLD gives me some problems. Is iTunes really that bad?
  10. I have always been a fan of enclosed/over the ear headphones because no sounds leaks if I am in public and they are still suitable enough to produce quality sound at home. I want to upgrade to at least $200 cans.
  11. Basically I want some decent headphones to use with my laptop and my ipod. I want some headphones that will at least make up for the lousy amplification of the ipod and work a little bit of magic. Any suggestions?
  12. Well what would be the best software to use with my particular setup? I am using an external samsung drive on my ibook g4 with xld. I usually rip to apple lossless.
  13. I tried to rip the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell The Complete Duets CD using XLD (the cd is brand new with no scratches by the way.) Once I order XLD to decode the disc the first track stops about halfway through on the test run of the rip. Anyone else have this problem ripping a disc using XLD? I am using a samsung external drive with my ibookg4 and the disc rips just fine into iTunes. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
  14. I have ripped a couple cd's using my external OWC Mercury Pro Dual Layer DVD+/-RW Pioneer DVR-218L External DVD/CD Writer with a Firewire connection. I have been using XLD software. A lot of my rips sound like the audio is more prominent in the left channel. When i did an a to b test between the Apple Lossless file and the CD playing on my home cd player...well, the CD actually sounds fine and my files are not sounding so hot. Is this because I am using an external drive? Please help
  15. I see a few nice pioneer drives as well as Samsung. What about Lacie?
