  1. Hi My current setup uses a Synology 712 connected to a Linksys 8 port gigabit switch. I also have my Fios wifi router, mac mini, and a Dartzeel DAC/Renderer connected to the switch. I'm wondering how important a role the switch plays in the sound. The Linksys was fairly cheap - around $40. Any suggestions on what would be an upgrade? Is there any compatability issue with the Fios router, as opposed to a able modem/router? Thanks

    New to XLD

I've just started using XLD, and had a few questions. I've noticed big swings in the copy speed. I have it set on automatic with no limit on the speed. Is a slower copy speed more accurate than a fast one? Also, I had several problems when I used Autorip. At least one song per cd got hung up, and had to be cancelled, and redone. Is using Autorip a major improvement? Are there other ripping programs that are recommended? Thanks for the help.
  5. My music library is on a Synology system backing up with Raid. I have backups of all of my music on other hard drives, but none of them contain the PM bookmarks that are created when you drag the DSD files into PM.I'm not sure that if I had those bookmarks, that they could just be inserted into the library files.
  6. Spoke to Rob, and unfortunately, the bookmarks are gone. So it's back to reloading the files. For those who have DSD files, I can tell you to never check the organize the media folder.
  7. I did see that on the support page, but the problem is that the Pure Music DSD Bookmarks have disappeared from my library. This has happened to every DSD album in the library - over 200 albums.
  8. Hi I am running pure music 1.89.4, with itunes 11. I play DSD as well as redbook files. I just went to rip some cd's into itunes, and while checking my settings, I checked the box to keep the itunes media folder organized. I know that puremusic says to uncheck it while uploading DSD files, but nothing about keeping it unchecked. It ran through my entire library and now I can't play any DSD files. It seems to have removed the puremusic bookmarks from each album. Is there a way to reverse this? Please don't tell me that I have to rip all of my DSD's again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Originally, I was using a 2Bay Onto Datatail connected via firewire. I needed to expand, and the fan noise always bothered me. So I bought a 2bay Synology 712+ and the 5 bay 510 expansion unit, and placed it in an adjacent room via a 25 foot Ethernet cable. From the start, I felt that I had taken a hit sonically. Sound was thinner, and more analytical.I have tried numerous cables, CAT5,6 and 7, but I have not been able to restore what I previously had via firewire. I am surprised at this, as I run PureMusic in Memory, and I felt that would negate any difference down the line. I love the Synology system, as a safe, reliable storage system, but have been looking for something else. The thunderbolt, given it's speed, seems like a good choice. Did you notice any difference in the sound when you added the Belkin and a second cable?
  10. Hi DigiPete Excuse my ignorance, but how will you set up the Belkin so that you can put the Pegasus in another room?. Is the purpose of the Belkin so that you can run 2 lengths of Thunderbolt? What is the longest length that is recommended forThunderbolt? I'm interested in replacing my Synology 712+, which I have in an adjacent room connected via ethernet cable. I like having the drives in another room, but I think the ethernet cable is an inferior sounding connection. Thanks Carl
  11. Hi I have a synology 412+ with the 510 extension. I was screwing around behind them, and accidentally dislodged the plug on the 510. Now, the status light on the 412 is flashing, and I can't access anything. In the storage panel, it says that both drives in the 510 are not initialized, and that I have no volumes - I should have one volume. Any help would be most appreciated, as I am freaking out over this Thanks
  12. Thank you all for your help Very much appreciated Carl
  13. Could you explain what a fully gigabit network is? Sorry for my ignorance. Carl
