  1. Package sale is on hold. WDAC3C is available for purchase per separate ad.
  2. View Classified Waversa WCore 2 and WDac3C DAC Package Offering With special combo pricing this listing is for two complimentary components, a Waversa Systems music server and a DAC with Ethernet streaming and direct physical digital inputs for sale as a combined package. I have an ad for each listed separately in addition to this ad. These are high quality high performing streaming/music server/music playback components which together provide standard Roon core server and Roon endpoint options using the Roon RAAT protocol. And also together they both enable the Waversa's WNDR transport method via Roon which in my experience produces a noticeably better result. The WCore 2 server has a high performance battery powered and custom clocked network switch and includes a very beneficial internal LAN noise isolator. The WDAC3C DAC has multiple digital inputs including Roon ethernet, DNLA Ethernet, Waversa WNDR Ethernet, USB, AES, toslink, and RCA SPDIF. There are 2 word clock IO BNC connectors also. DSP capabilities include tube output emulation among others so it is highly flexible. The DAC has balanced and unbalanced 2 channel outputs. The free Waversa WRemote App enables easy on the fly settings changes for both components. Settings control is also available via a browser interface. Rated 8 of 10 Very Good condition. See my perfect feedback here and on Audiogon (same user name). Please contact me with questions. Free CONUS lower 48 states shipping and no other fees. PayPal buyers will need a PayPal verified address. Seller sjohnson Date 01/14/24 Price 4,675.00 USD Category Music Servers / Streamers
  3. Thought I’d add comments on the MU1 specifically in combination with the Grimm UC1. I recently purchased a MU1 and in the subsequent process of downsizing some of my studio gear decided to add a UC1 to replace a high channel count adda audio interface and also replace a 2 channel system Waversa WDac3C streaming dac. The UC1 will do double duty for 2 channel listening and small recording/audio projects. The mu1 definitely lives up to its billing and took the WDac3C to greater levels. The combination was quite good. I was hoping the Grimm Audio combination would be good and I’m not disappointed. Replacing the WDac3C with the UC1 brought things up to a much higher level overall…bringing out more of the MU1 benefits/traits. I’m slaving the UC1 clock to the AES output from the MU1 in 4fs mode with a no longer available Apogee Wide Eye AES digital cable. My initial assessment is clocking to the mu1 output yields a more natural open or spacious sound than clocking from the uc1 internal master clock. The flexibility of the uc1 is nice. Without going into a reviewer level of detail, at least in my system it’s a great combination. A few months ago I auditioned an Allnic D10000 dac which was wonderful but I was hesitant to spend so much on a dac given the ever evolving digital device landscape. Given that and my budget, I’m glad I passed on the Allnic as the UC1 provides a lot of the good things I remember from the Allnic dac. Not a real comparison given the passing of time and system differences but enough to say I’m in the right ballpark. I don’t have the ability to compare the MU1/UC1 combination with the MU2 (preamp capability aside since I have an Integrated amp) but then my use case justifies a separate dac plus the ADC capability. That said, it would definitely be an interesting direct comparison. Anyway, fwiw I thought I’d share this here. Glad to provide more information or thoughts on my experience with this combination so far.
  4. View Classified Waversa WDac3c DAC with Ethernet Streaming Inputs This is a conservatively rated very good condition, high quality DAC at a discounted price point. This unit was purchased new from Kevalin Audio approximately three years ago and has been used in a child and smoke free listening environment. This DAC has balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs. Inputs are AES/EBU XLR, SPDIF RCA, Toslink, USB, word clock, and ethernet for use as a Roon or UPnP music server endpoint. Optionally, when used with a Waversa WCore server, Wstreamer, WRouter, or WBridge device, the WDac3C can receive the audio stream utilizing Waversa’s WNDR Ethernet transmission protocol. WNDR noticeably improves audio quality with a more natural analog-like result. My WCore 2.0 Roon server shown as the 2nd top unit in two pictures is also for sale. Inquire for a package price. 7. Many thanks....I just found your instructions and implemented the bridged connection with results that were way more than just a pleasant surprise. (The link earlier in the thread to Apple support article on bridging is no longer working.) I bridged a Bricasti M5 Network Player to a modded 2012 Mac Mini with an Apple Thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor. Previously used a small managed switch. Over the last year plus have focused a lot on optimizing power and isolation of system and networking components with very good results using a direct spdif connection from the M5 to Dynaudio Focus XD400 speakers. Network modem, router, and switch are independently lps powered along with the Mini and the SSDs. Having done all that and experiencing quite good results I was recently contemplating next steps and wondering if I'd optimized as much as feasible short of upgrading the whole system itself. Bridging was an optimization I was definitely missing. So finding this method is a very pleasant surprise. Without getting into the details, it improved the sound across the board. Best $29 (Tbolt-ethernet adapter) high bang for the buck mod I could have imagined. Romaz again, thanks for the instructions and sharing...and thanks also to austinpop for moderating and organizing this thread! Steve
  8. Hi Wgscott, Another option is the Exogal Comet. Regarding the 2K$ limit, I recently saw that Underwood HiFi has factory refurbished units at your top limit, otherwise new units can be had for about $300-400 over that. Has a variety of I/O including rca or xlr out, usb in, aes in, analog rca in, etc plus it has remote volume control. I use one as my main system dac and now with the lack of a dedicated sound room have it in my main system in the living room running my amp directly with toslink from the video system, usb from my mac mini, AES/EBU from my other dac with mic pres now used as a phono-pre for my turntable. I drive the amp directly with great results. Anyway, I saw your thread and wanted to pass this on for your consideration. Good luck in your search. Steve
  9. I have not heard the other options you listed but having the JA Pulsars for the last year and a half I could not be happier. I run mine with the Modwright KWA 150SE amp. I've had them in a small room with wood floor over a crawl space and now have them in a medium room with 10 ft ceilings on concrete/saltillo tile with great results. Even though not full range they extend well and provide a very coherent bottom to top presentation with high clarity/resolution and non fatiguing ease. With these anything done to improve (or inadvertently degrade for that matter) the front end comes through in spades. I hit a high performing and stable/solid point with my LPS powered drives and computer to a usb dac and for quite awhile now have been enjoying the system as is at "its set, so forget it" point. Other than one prior tweek to the speaker stands and once dialed in position-wise in the room it's been the Pulsars that have been the stable set them/forget them center point of my system. Anyway, you may have the budget for the Raidhos but if you do get a chance it's definitely worth an audition of the Pulsars. Also, I've had the KEF LS50s and as good as they are for the money the Pulsars are easily a magnitude better. Best, Steve
  10. The MH ULN or LIO-8 are still very good DACs IMHO. I've had one for 5 years using it for both recording and listening (software player via FW and phono pre using the micpres, and outputting via the analog out direct to my amp). I enhanced it with modified connectors and power then recently am only using it as the phono-pre after running into some issues with the firewire port on my mac mini not to mention a strange interaction with my amp that eventually I'll have MH troubleshoot. I picked up an Exogal Comet with the LPS at RMAF in October which I like better than the MH. The Exogal seems like it has more resolution than the MH while not being fatiguing ie a rather a nice relaxed yet detailed presentation. I'm still using the MH as a phono pre for my TT and feeding the Exogal via AES with really nice results. When the MH 3D upgrade is available I will likely upgrade and keep the MH unit for the recording work or for a 2nd DAC. Bottomline is the MH units are still pretty good while newer and cost competitive alternatives are available and worth checking in to. Best wishes, Steve
  11. I used to always enjoy checking in on and occasionally posting to the CA forums in the interest of expanding my knowledge of digital audio and computer audio plus to just share in a fun hobby - as much as you can at a distance through this medium. It's been building for the last few weeks for me and as it stands now, even though I still do, I hesitate to enter, view, and comment in CA given the increasingly negative tone and content of some who push their negativity and personal agenda (whatever it is) into almost any given thread. It goes beyond basic lack of respect and to me is just sickening. I personally don't care what a person believes or doesn't believe. What seems to be the problem is the belief that it's OK to post blatantly disrespectful and sometimes just plain malevolent comments. And, I'm not talking about spirited debates here. I've brought this up to Chris recently not to just complain but to share concerns for the good of CA. CA is a great arena that more and more seems to be analogous to a once new outdoor park, very enjoyable, in a nice setting that over time has been taken over by a few very loud and vocal self appointed preachers who want to push their religion whether it's 'science based' or whether it's something else - you pick the terms since if you read even only a few threads it's pretty obvious... If one could just ignore their noise and enjoy the surroundings including respectful interactions with other park goers that would be ideal. That's challenging though when these preachers follow you around which is in effect what those who engage in troll behavior do here. I'm one who is sensitive to everything that goes on in a room and who thinks a lot about interactions afterward so maybe this stuff impacts me more than it should. Well, I entered CA today and saw this thread so felt it time to say something. In my conversations with Chris C. we found we had several things in common ie being alums from the same university and we had worked in the same IT organization in Minneapolis. And it's likely I know some of you from other interactions outside CA. This is a community and there's ultimately a lot in common among members - much more than not. I hope that takes precedence in the end. Chris can only moderate so much so it's up to the members to help out. I'm sure there are thoughts out there on this that can go toward moving things in a better direction. Anyway, those are my thoughts, reactions, etc... Best wishes, Steve
  12. For sale is a one meter pair of Wireworld Eclipse Platinum balanced interconnects. Condition is at least 8 of 10 (using Audiogon scale) and sale includes metal case and certificate of authenticity. This IC has excellent reviews and is very transparent and articulate. Priced very fairly at $1095 (MSRP is $2995) including shipping in the continental US and also including Paypal fees. I will consider international sales but at a minimum with buyer paid shipping and buyer paid Paypal fees. Buy with confidence as I have perfect Audiogon (sjohnson55) feedback. I had hoped to use these 1 meter length ICs from my DAC to the amp but have changed the setup so will sell these and instead use my other 2.5M ICs. Thanks for viewing. Steve
