  1. I'm thinking about getting an m2tech hiface to use w/ my macbook and Nova. question for you guys, if I use the hiface and connect to the nova via its Coax 1 input and play 24/88.2 files from the Macbook, will I be getting full hi res output? In other words, can the Hiface and Nova handle 24/88.2? What about 24/96? 24/192 will be downgraded by the Nova, right? thanks.
  2. many thanks for the interesting comparisons. I'm a Nova owner and like the product a lot. One thing I'd be interested in if anyone has updated thoughts is the gain that can be achieved by using an external amp and just using the dac/pre functions of the Nova and any high value amps that might work well. I've read that this is a potentially a path worth exploring here and elsewhere. <br /> <br /> best, <br /> <br /> Jim
  3. thanks, Chris. appreciate your work and the review. would be curious to hear more detail if you can offer it as well. <br /> <br /> "P.S. I have something special cooking right now that should satisfy everyone :~)"<br /> <br /> can't wait. <br />
  4. I wonder if the MiniWatt tube amp would be an improvement for $229?? anyone tried?
  5. with regard to power, has anybody tried any of Mapleshade's power products? I've got a pair of their double helix speaker cables on order to try out in my system (Macbook w/iTunes/Peachtree Nova/Totem Mite's). (They offer a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee.) Will let you know how it goes.
  6. anybody tried the Nova with Magnepans?
  7. very interesting. I have a usb copy on the way and am anxious to listen.
  8. Anybody compare USB to the CD's?
  9. Awesome. Look forward to your thoughts.
  10. I'm thinking about getting my Dad a Peachtree Nova for Christmas. He has an old (sadly, currently unused) pair of DCM Time Windows in the basement. I have a Nova and love it. I think the utility / ease of use the device offers would be good for my Dad and help get the Time Windows out of the basement. Any opinions on this combination or other ideas to think about? many thanks in advance. $1200 (cost of Nova) or thereabouts is probably the upper end of my budget for this. best, Jim
  11. Makes good sense. anybody of the non US folks tried Spotify? I'm looking forward to their US launch.
  12. Anyone upgrade to Pandora One? It gets you the desktop app and a higher streaming rate (192 kilobits/sec). It's not much money ($36/year), but any opinions welcome. More generally, how does 192 kilobits/sec compare to CD's ripped to your computer? Do any internet radio stations stream CD quality or high res material? It would seem this is possible through a broadband connection as Apple, Netflix and others stream HD video content? Jim
  13. Jimmy, thanks for the feedback on your glass cable. interesting. Ronfint, that's interesting. After listening some more this weekend, I think that I prefer the USB connection over the toslink/mini toslink (all redbook material so far). Maybe that's the reason?
