    Amarra 2.3

The specials are "only" for USA and Canada.
  2. Sounds better the premium account. I have invitations (If anyone need can send me a private)
  3. 3GB in my old Mini (4GB installed but only uses 3) No problems with Amarra or Pure Music.
  4. Stax Sigma Stax Sigma Pro Stax Lambda Stax T2 My other cans: Sennheiser HD580 Sennheiser HD25-1 Sennheiser HD25SP Bechmark DAC1
  5. With a Paypal account you don't have the "US only" limitation
  6. Anybody can send me the new driver (I don't have a Marco reply) To this mail: ramagochi(at)yahoo(dot)es Many thanks
  7. The Hiface is very nice device for Pc (By the moment some Macs have problems), and yes, is very important specially with high sampling rate tracks (Jitter matters). I leave two photos, one is a realtec sound card spdif output to a Benchmark DAC1, and the other is a Hiface output to the same converter.
  8. Like the volume control the equalization isn't a problem for bit deeps over of 16 bits, for today 24 bit systems isn't a problem, but for a very agressive cuts best with dither (Such as the volume control)
  9. Is nice, good looking and cheap, but I prefer so far my Apogee MiniDAC than my Apogee Duet. I feel the Duet a bit brighter sound, and less defined stereo image (more diffused and open) than the MiniDAC. Cheers
  10. No, isn't upsampling, is just more bits, but if don't have data are blank and inocuous bits (16 to 24). In the reverse side (24 to 16) you have a truncation, if you have a truncation without dither will be occurs bad things. I leave a pair of images of a 500Hz tone who drops from 16 to 8bits (for see it better) with and without dither
  11. Hi Roberto, Nothing is wrong when you play a 16 bit file with a 24 bits output (Is the regular manner), but the reverse "without dither" will be bad. Cheers
  12. I don't agree Bob. The Apogee MiniDAC is a very good DAC, I have several DACs here (Benchmark, Mytek...) and the Apogee is one of the best. I chose the MiniDAC for my hifi equipment after listening to a few DACs. Is a bit more euphonic (more charming upper mids) than the DAC1 from Benchmark but more enjoyable for long listening. Inside have a very good DAC chip, the Analog Devices AD1955 just the same as Lavry DA10 or Esoteric D-03, and a very good Firewire connection. Sounds better with a better power supply The only regret is that the Amarra can't change the MiniDac's fs by the moment (Amarra's problem, other softwares can) (Only concern to Firewire MiniDAC) Cheers
  13. I did a small test with two files Is a recording of a solo classical guitar in a church. This recording was a surround sound recording downmixing to a stereo The set was a Decca Tree of Earthworks TC30K (LCR) and a ORTF pair at 4m in the rear for the church ambience (LsRs), with two Earthworks SR30 , the ADC was an Apogee and the preamps Apogee as well. The recording was made with Nuendo 4 at 24 bits 96kHz. The microphones have a frequency response of over 30kHz (This is important because a lot of HD recordings uses microphones with a short frequency response) One file was the original mixing, and the other file was resampled to 48kHz, and resampled again to 44,1kHz with the Izotope SRC at max quality, dithered to 16 bit with the Izotope Mbit+ (Shape medium and amount normal) and cutted his wordlength to 16 bits. The resampled file was upsampled to 48kHz, and upsampled again to 96kHz (Izotope SRC), and was saved like 24bit file (The reason was that the DAC no have the need to change the filter, the two files are the same for the audio system) TEST
