  1. A4LX uses an online metadata base that sources standard ID3 tagging. The best solution, I found, was to use Kid3. This actually appends the metadata to the file, so it's always there, for whatever player you use and provide's allot more metadata too. It's open source, so it takes a little getting used too. Classical's metadata has always been incredibly skewed and this is the best way I've found to correct it. I do hope this helps.
  2. Not if they're older than 1.0.4 IRC release. I found the 1.2.4 does a much better measurement and analysis than previous releases. If you can, use a calibration file for your mic.
  3. Good! I had a corrupted file, in an archive of files that I added to A4, because iTunes doesn't play various formats. This helped me find the corrupted file, so I thought I'd pass it on.
  4. Sounds like you may have some prefs left over from a previous install. I'd run the scripts to clear the previous library & uninstall A4 to insure a clean install first. I have a large library too, so I had to make sure nothing went into sleep mode. This could be your OS, server, external disks or hard disks. If you think, you may have a corrupted file, you can look at your AmarraScanFiles.txt and see the very last entry A4 was able to import, before it stopped. Then move that file to a temp location outside of the library.
  5. I had issues with 1.0.4. As I recall, 1.2.4 came with the original 4.0 release. As a note, the 1.0 files are not transferable to 1.2, so you'll need to re measure. You may need to request the 1.2.4 version from Sonic Studio directly.
  6. Recently updated the Mac OS to High Sierra and noticed a low frequency improvement. After uninstalling the previous Amarra library, I installed 4.1, then rebooted the OS. Because I have a large library, I let it acquire the metadata overnight and in the morning quit Amarra, to finalize the library. After work I had time to audition and sampled a few tracks then, optimized with • IRC (1.2.4) • Interfaced with an Opera Browser (major sonic improvement) • Selected Exclusive mode. To finalize these settings, I rebooted after each. (computers love this) The result is nothing short of stunning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ॐ
  7. Dirac's IRC is a separate program from Amarra and both rely on the Audio Midi Damon. When the Audio Midi get's corrupted the only solution is to reboot the OS. If your have having phasing issues: • Stop IRC (from the advanced pane) and Quit Amarra • Reboot the OS (this reinitializes the Audio Midi Damon) • Re-launch Amarra and sample (without IRC) If good, stop playback • From the advanced window / select your calibration / then turn IRC ON / and Play • Don’t toggle or change selections after that • To try a different calibration, I'd start the process over
  8. As I'm very pleased with it, I only use Amarra at this time. IRC can be tricky. When I switch IRC ON or Off, I make it's only done, in the advanced window. IRC is actually a separate program from Amarra, so I've always found that turning it off before I quit any version of Amarra, has also been a best practice.
  9. I have heard of this issue. I had it briefly with an early builds of A4. When you want a clean install or install a new build of A4 Clear all the pref files completely by running the clear settings then the uninstall scripts. Reinstall A4 and reboot the OS, before anything else. ( I'm running Mac Sierra) Then authenticate and add your library files Close A4 and relaunch Finally go into setting's / IRC/ advanced / Choose a filter you feel is the best / turn on / close advanced At this point I wouldn't toggle IRC or add new music files right away. I hope this helps. I'll be in contact with Ralph.
  10. IRC's not the issue, with the remote interface. The publicly available Amarra Remote app build, is really old and not recommended to use. I've had no issues with IRC. It's best to have an acquiesced library that you've saved and reopened once. If you have any corruption issues, run the clear settings script and re-add your library. Because I have a large library, I've done this during the night when I sleep, then quit the library, once it's done, the following day.
  11. After you've created filters in IRC they need to be assigned to one of the four slots. You then open a file for the filter selection within Amarra Luxe 4. Sometimes, say if things became corrupted or you've cleared your library. Without reassigning the slots they'll either not work at all or you can end up with a corrupted sound stage.
  12. The 320+ builds of Amarra Luxe 4 are the best. I recommend doing a clean install first by uninstalling any previous versions. Then reacquire your library. (If it's a large library scan it overnight.) I like to let A4 go through this process undisturbed. A4 will sound better once its done with these background tasks anyway. If you use IRC filter's, they must be "reassigned" and turned ON, within the IRC "Advanced" pane. At this point I like to quit then relaunch to save the prefs & metadata. The playlists now default with recently played & recently added playlists. Try to avoid compressing your file's and stick with AIFF, WAV or DFF ect.. when ripping. Use Kid3 to add or correct extensive metadata to any file's codec. You can rescan folders without creating duplicates of the bona fide library or just use the "add to library".
  13. The level of resolution is by far the best, I've had, with the Amarra builds. The soundstage is rock solid. Make sure you completely un-install the previous build to achieve the proper functioning and fidelity this build has to offer.
  14. Does anyone use the iPad to control their music listening sessions? Do you use VNC or Apple's Remote app or something different?
  15. When updating make sure you have run the Uninstall Amarra command then the delete Amarra preferences command, before you install an update. These are found in the extra's folder with the Amarra app folder.
