My deliemma is that my Imac is 20ft from my potential dac. From your review of the Unlink converter I get the impression the ST Fiber Input optical cable is the ideal solution to this distance issue. What about Toslink? Are there more than two Dacs with ST Fiber Inputs?

Does anyone have real life experience with these Dacs? Do the Wavelength Dacs rival the Weiss? While they all have had great reviews, I've never heard them both mentioned in the same breath.

It's decision time and I need help. I live in rural Maine far-far away from any hi end dealers so actually listening to products is always a problem. The server will be based on a new Imac. I want help in choosing between an Ayre QB-9 and a Wavelength Cosecent Dac Vs. Both excellent units and well reviewed but which will work best IN MY system: Atmasphere MP 1, Atmasphere MA 1, Speltz Autoformer, Aeriel Accoustics 10ts. I'm all warm and tubey so far with a balanced preamp and amp. The Ayre is balanced and solid state while the Cosecent is not balanced and definitely tubey. Too many tubes or a pleasant complement? I know taste enters into the consideration but I have no way of knowing what the final results will be. HELP Peter

I've been monitoring this site for a while and I have not seen any mention of using an Imac as a server as well as for other purposes. I realize having a dedicated computer as a server is ideal however would starting out with an Imac and later adding a mini pose any significant problems or drawbacks? I plan on using an asynchronous dac.

I'm soon to pull the trigger on a computer server system consisting of an Imac- asynchronous usb Wavelength Cosecant. I want to be able to feed my dedicated music room high end system (atmasphere mp1-atmasphere ma1s-speltz autoformers-aerial accoustics 10ts) and a, to be added, multi room background system at the same time without degrading the quality of the music room system. Is this possible and how?
