  1. Rick, I am curious if you have a handle on how the dac8 drivers work alongside programs like Pure music. Which one is running the show. This from ARCs web page- "From the ARC icon in your computer’s input tray you can set the DAC8 to any sample rate from 44.1 to 192kHz and allow the music server/management software to up or down convert your music to the selected sample rate." Pure Music suggests setting sample rate to highest rate of your music. Do you use Amarra or Pure Music with this dac? Have you had any input from ARC on these programs? Also I think I'm getting a handle on this Dac's sound, but I'll leave that for later.
  2. Rick, Spanish Harlem -Rebecca Pidgeon, 88.200khz sounds fantastic, Pure music is running, for the conversion, I'm satisfied that at this level it's surpassing the qb-9, I'm delving into standard now, it's definitely different there, maybe more of a trade off in terms of warm coverup vs revealing detail, more recording dependent. Enjoy your vinyl this week, you'll survive till Friday. I'm having fun. I'll talk to you later. Tending to your vinyl is good for you, builds character. Thanks, gentlemen for your help, much appreciated.
  3. Hello, I just left Audio Designs shop in KC with a loaner Dac 8, from Rick. It's Sat. and there closed. He apparently was unsuccessful e-mailing it's driver to me. I was reading your comment online Chris, and thought I'd see if you had set up a download for it. I could not find a link, searches for dac 8 driver were unfruitful. Any help for this weekend would greatly appreciated. Maybe you have an e-mail for him? Also I am feeling a little guilty because I have been viewing your site for some time, without commenting, and now find myself asking for your help. So perhaps this would be good time to "pipe in" since I will be considering it's virtues in a first ever component comparison in my own system, excluding speakers. The Dac 8 could replace my QB-9 as my digital system source, and be my first upgrade. I purchased it pre-review, site unseen based on Ayres reputation, revolutionary technology implementation, and price, knowing it would be the first to go, to be replaced, since this segment is so volatile and is my least costly component. I thought I might try to close the gap a bit with my analog set up, which may be hard to beat, digitally, at least for what I'm comfortable spending. Thanks, - John [email protected]
