  1. Hi John thank you for your input. Yes, I am among the very few who likes to use a windows phone. currently a Lumia 950XL, everyone in my family has some version of a Lumia. With JRIVER installed on the server, I will use "nMedium Play" app to play music on the Win10 Phones and tablets. The iPad has a “JRemote” app. i guess UPnP/DLNA will be used to play music from the server to the endpoints. The Yamaha is connected thru HDMI to a custom build -- Asus Extreme VI MoBo, Core i5-4660, 24 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, 256gb SSD Samsung Evo 840 & a OCZ REVO II PCI-e SSD 480GB -- all parts left over from previous builds and upgrades. This rig is used to watch movies and such (Kodi and Plex). The Yamaha AV Receiver is not network capable – hopefully I will upgrade to one next year. So what I understood from your comments above, irrespective of the hardware and tweaks at the back-end/ server side, it wont make a difference to the audio quality on the phones, tablets & computers, as these devices are just basic in terms of their audio output. What about the Win10 workstation I use? Do I require some tweaks on it to better the sound quality? I guess then a simple Windows and JRIVER setup is best without tweaks. Any suggestions on SONOS like devices that work with JRIVER Thanks regards Gurvesh
  2. Hi Everyone I am a newbie to CAPS and building the extreme audiophile server. I have read this entire post of 22 pages and am looking for suggestions. I have a spare Dell R210 lying around with the following specs: Single Intel Xeon X3430 2.4 GHz processor 16 GB 1333MHz ECC RAM Kingston On-Board Broadcom Dual Gigabit Network Adapter Matrox® G200eW w/ 8MB memory video card Remote Management IDRAC6 Enterprise with dedicated IPMI port 1 PCIe x16 G2 slot I was planning to use: Kingston KC300 60 GB SSD as my OS Disk Seagate 3TB ST3000DM001 as my Music Storage Disk (currently have about 1.95TB in mixed quality files) The server does not have bells and whistles. Will install Win 2012R2 STD GUI edition and JRIVER Media Center 22 Is there anything else you will recommend adding to better the performance and improve the audio? Will mostly stream audio to tablets and phones, maybe a Yamaha 7.1 home theater setup. In time, I want to add a SONOS like system to the entire house with 7 units aka one in every room (am open to alternatives and suggestions) Most of my tablets and gadgets are Windows. So will have to look for products that have apps for Win 10 rather than the more popular Android and Apple products. Look forward to your input and suggestions. Thank you in advance. Gurvesh
