  1. Hi there, party was a big success and we had lots of fun. I went through your recommendations with my wife and we created a playlist that also had some other titles that my wife loves (she's a metalhead, but that's not necessarily a good genre for a dinner party where you want to eat and talk ). I'm not too much into country music I guess, but I liked what Jud recommended (my wife not so much, though ) I also took parts from the True Blood soundtrack - long time since we last watched the show, but I always liked the music. Willie Nelson was too much "country" for my taste and Ry Cooder's Paris, Texas is very atmospheric but I had the feeling it was too "lov level" for the party. I also thought that it may require the images from the movie to go with it. Also the Soul Food album worked very nice as the evening progressed... My wife loved Black Stone Cherry a lot (didn't know it before), but we did not put it on the list, because we were not sure whether our friends would also like it. We also had some songs from Boz Scaggs that we found via Roon while browsing and thought that it fitted well. So all in all there were a lot of new discoveries and nice music to explore - thanks again for all your contributions! Cheers Klaus
  2. thank you so much for all the recommendations - currently working on the playlist. Tomorrow's the day. Will report afterwards
  3. Hi, thanks a lot. This looks like a good start. We are all in our mid-forties to fifties... Myself being a classical music person, I do like a lot of good other music but normally don't bother to remember the musicians... So your recommendations are very welcome. Klaus
  4. Hi, long time reader here - this is my first post and it starts with a question My wife and I are doing regular themed cooking parties with befriended couples and this time we will have "Southern US cuisine". I am responsible for the drinks and the music... I'm on track with the drinks, but still looking for good music to run with the food. So I thought I ask the community for any suggestions. I am looking for an interesting mix of music you would consider typical for the US south - from California to Florida. All genres welcome. Looking forward to your suggestions! Thanks a lot Klaus
