  1. Hi! Thanks for your answer. In my view the Devialet 200 and good cd drive (I tested a Solution one) sounded better than the 082 and 061 combo. If I am to get a better riaa than I have now / to the level of Devialet 200 version - I have to invest at least usd 6k to get a Zesto etc. The 061 is a few years old. Hard to sell them in Norway. Limited market. So I will use it as a cd drive for the time being connected via spdif to Devialet and connected to a head amp Taurus via balanced XLR's. Cheers ?? Toffen
  2. Hi? I hope you are well. I will do some major changes to my hifi system. I will sell my Burmester 032, my riaa and interconnects - and buy a Devialet 200. I also plan to sell my MacMini and Weiss INT 202 which I have connected to a Burmester 061 dac. And buy an Auralic Aries. I do not use an NAS, only stream Qobuz Hifi. I plan to use my 061 as cd drive only. If I am correct there is no use for the Weiss INT 202 anymore? I like the fact that Auralic do have remote app for Qobuz. I still can not get my ipad to work as screen for MacMini .. Annoying. What is the difference in sound quality bettween the Aries and Aries LE? The rest of the equipment are Wilson Sophia 2 (3 next ?), Eat Forte S, Ortofon Gadenza Bronze, Thomas Schick 12", Revox B78mk2, Audience cables, etc Thanks! Cheers, Toffen Norway
  3. Hi! I hope you all are well I will most likely jump into it and buy a Devialet 170 over Christmas. My plan is to use USB from Mac Mini directly into the Devialet. Or Firewire from the MacMini via a Weiss INT 202 (which I have from before) and into Devilaets AES / EBU inputs. What do you think? I have a Burmester 061, and the cd player only have SPDIF digital and toslink output. As far I understand Devialet reccommend to use AES / EBU as input from a CD player. The new Weiss 203 have two options for inputs: Firewire and SPDIF. Weiss INT 202 has only Firewire. So I presume I have to buy an interface if I shall connect my CD player to Devialet using the AES / EBU inputs? My equipment is per date Burmester 061, Burmester 051, Wilson Sophia 2, Revox B78mk2, Eat Forte S w/Ikeda arm, Lyra Delos, Ortofon Gradenza Bronze, Musical Surraoundings Nova 2, HifiMan HE-500, Auralic Taurus head amp, etc. Look forward to get the Devialet 170. It will surely put the musical experience to another level. Cheeers and thanks, Toffen
  4. Hi! I hope you all are well. I invested in the digital domain approx two years ago with a Mac Mini and Weiss INT 202. The Weiss INT 202 is connected with a low price (USD 200) digital coaxial cable from Nordost to my Burmester 061 digital in socket, and I use a standard Belkin gold Firewirecable between the Mac Mini and Weiss interface. Until recently I have used mostly Spotify as source, and CD's if I wanted some real quality sound. Spotitfy stream at max 320 kbps MP3s, although we know many of the titles are in 160 kbps. Yesterday my nephew learned me about a French streaming service called Qobux.com. On their desktop platform they offer true CD quality streaming (FLAC 16bit / 44.1kHz). And if you want to you can download stuio master files as well (have to pay extra for this though). The sound is truly magnificant, but I see my "digital interconnects" do not deliver what the source do. Compared to the CD version it lacks a little definition, 3D and tightness. So I would be very happy if you could give me some advise for the best sound vs price for a firewire to usb and a coaxial digital cable 75 ohm. The monthly fee is Euro 29, which is double of Spotify. But it is very well worth it. They even have more titles to choose amaong as well. All FLAC 16bit / 44.1kHz. Look forward to hearing back from you. Cheeers and thanks - and Happy Holidays! Toffen, Norway
  5. Hi! I am a truly amatour here. I am planning to buy a Mac Mini and connect it to my Weiss INT202 and further to my Burmester 061 Dac input. The Mac Mini will be connected to internet by cable. No wifi. However, as you I do not want to have a big screen. In fact I have no room for it. I am usally stream music from Spotify. Would it be possible to use Ipad as screen and remote for this (having Mac Mini as the streaming device). Cheeers and thanks, Toffen
  6. Hi! You were spot on! The TRS check was on. I unlocked it, and bang I god music! Thanks! Cheeers, Toffen
  7. Hi! Happy New Year:) I have a HP laptop connected to a Weiss INT202 and further to my Burmester 061 digital in. I installed the weiss software, asio diver and jriver. It has been working just fine. I use a firewire cable without power, so the external powersupply of Weiss is used. Due to the placement of the laptop, the cable has dropped out of the laptop a couple of times. Weiss strongly reccommend to avoid hotplugging. However, this is for firewire cable with power. I use without. Down to the problem. Yesterday everything is dead quiet. I have reinstalled the software and drivers. No effect. I have changed laptops (I have one older one too). No effect. The weiss software on the computer tells me that it is connected streaming 44,1 and under normal mode. I have checked all connections. Hmmm. Maybe its the firewire cable? Or maybe something is gone all wrong inside the INT202 due to hot plugging, although my HP does not use any power in the firewire cable. Strange. Any suggestions? I will get hold of a new cable, but our here by the ocean its not that easy Thanks! Cheeers, Toffen
  8. Hi! Merry Christmas an A Happy New Year! I have just installed my Weiss INT202 between my laptop and Burmester 061 digital input. I have tested this setup on two different laptops, one 2 year old business HP laptop with XP, and one 4 years old HP latop with Vista. I have disconnected the sound drivers on both laptops. On my business laptop, I ended up deleting all mediaplayer files So for both laptops I use Weiss INT202 as soundcard / driver. I have installed J River for playing imported files, and use AISO drivers. What suprised me is that its much better sound in my newer HP business laptop. The sound is darker but much more detailed. To me it seems to the old laptop has a higher grade of jitter. The latency test show only 50-70 uS with the newer laptop. On the older laptop, its impossible to test the latency. I do not know why. I also need a bigger buffer with the older laptop than the newer to obtain no drop out playback. I will do the bit transparancy test tomorrow when I have time. I presume the new laptop has more internal memory, better firewire card and faster processor. Should this affect the sould in any way? I look forward to hearing back from you. Cheeers and thanks, Toffen
  9. Hi! I am not sure if the power supply is still not included in the INT202. I do not have power included in my firewire output, so I need so buy a powersupply to the interface. As we know the powersupply affect the quality of the sound, and I wondered if you have some recommendations for good high quality powersupply which can be used with INT202. Thanks! Cheeers, ToffenG
  10. Hi! Thanks! If I understand correct the INT202 has an internal clock which secure low jitter to the DAC? Do you reccommend TosLink or SPDIF from the interface to the DAC? Competetive priced. He he. Hifi does not come cheap... Cheeers, ToffenG
  11. Hi! I have just ordered a Weiss INT202 interface to use between my laptop and Burmester 061 cd player. My cd player has two digital inputs. Do anyone of you have experience with this interface, and what kind of firewire and spdif cables do you reccommend? The interface will be delivered mid February, and only two is available at this point in Norway due to demand internationally. The price for it was highly competitive. Look forward to hearing back from you. Cheeers! Toffen
  12. HI! Thanks for supersonic fast answer:) Cheeers, ToffenG
  13. Hi! I hope you all are well. Would it be possible to use the dCS U-Clock as USB-SPDIF interface between my laptop and DAC (Burmester 061 with RCA SPDIF digital input). If so, do you have any experiences with it? When I play CD's, would it be possible to use the U-Clock as masterclock for my CD / DAC too? Thanks! Cheeers, ToffenG
  14. Hi! I just got an email from Ernst Spitaler at mCubed Information Technology Ltd., and the micro Media does not have Firewire support. Neither does it have a PCIe slot. Connection would be possible only via USB2.0. So I have to look for a bigger unit from hfX or a diffrent brand. The search is still on! Cheeers, Toffen
  15. Hi! I will start with the hfX Micro Media and the Lynx card. If I think the hfX Micro Media does not end up to be the trick, I can use the Lynx card in another computer later. I will send Lynx an email. Does the hfx Micro Media has a firewire slot as well? Have a nice evening. Cheeers, ToffenG
