like the dog before the hit, I'm usually the one that complains. Slow to praise I am . With pen however, quick to hitch hike on a good one, let me praise talos 2000's praise with a simple "me too". Good job!

I too share those same concerns having used bitperfect from the git-go and later purchasing the retail version at the apple store. Pity those who picked up on it without a little taste of this website for a few shared clues on how to max this app. I had hoped the store bought jobby would come with complete info but alas no. So here I am hitching a bitch on the previous note who's where I'm at. How bout splain'n slowly what to and how to fill all those Preference blanks. I do love the sound and I've got 'em all. Peechus.

Having been all over the place with Amarra, Pure Music, Decibel, Audirvana, then discovering Bitperfect, how could I ever ask some of these off the wall tweeks? Smooth operation to pair with this great sound is all I need...Peechus.
  4. driving my 3.7 maggies with odyssey monoblocks chosen because i couldn't bi-amp, now pray tell, aside the error of my purchase, how?

tried the follow up but seems i couldn't connect for a corrected download. between all the forementioned hiccups i thought i heard some great sound. the tweeter shriek scared me off but wish to return when the all clear sign appears. peechus.
  6. next month still too soon. eager beaver me should have waited a couple more. we're talk'n git go folks!
  7. by adding the 8gb memory which size ssd to accommodate os for amarra, itunes, etc? i will be using the new mini only for my music .
  8. yo clay, i have been following your posts now for some time as your choice for the uln-2 and amarra plus your pithy comments make an interesting read. as a long time audiophile i recently discovered new sounds through my macbook pro feeding my big rig in the family room. while i'm a newbie here, my pursuit is seasoned with many tears of poor choices in my hi fi days. sure hope there's some good advice to accelerate my learning curve. not wishing to subway tote a g5 i googled used g5's and discovered quite a choice. alas which one offers the right specks for i-tunes/amarra duties? then there's the soundcard question...do i use a dac and a soundcard together? i thought a soundcard was a dac! i thought you have high regard for the ayre dac and the uln-2. is this a firewire or usb kinda thing? i'm into small jazz groups__tight plucky bass and clean b3 bass pedal notes. i'd be much obliged for shared opinions . peechus
  9. Choosing components to build my first computer audio system to complement the existing setup. After several weeks of hard core homework I'm stumped on the front end. Without listing the many possible winners I've winnowed down, one result that intrigues me the most is the Berkley Alpha Dac paired with Logitech Touch. Internet radio and pulling my cd's off a Mac-Mini. or perhaps my MacBook Pro. After telling me the folly about radio could I get an amen? I have a surround system controlled by an Anthem D2v which has an audio direct passthrough. It would be helpful to hear your comments. Thanks, Peechus.
  10. I have a modest collection of cd's that I wish to set up a computer audio library to enjoy through the new Logitech touch. Rather than purchase a mac-mini my 17" MacBook Pro will pull double duty [e-mail]. I connect the computer via wireless to an Airport extreme where Cat6 takes the ethernet cable to where the Touch and Anthem D2v Pre/pro will be located in another room. While the D2v digitizes the inputs, it does have an analog thruput. How can I maximize my MacBook Pro for inclusion to a top drawer set up?

  12. I sure sucked wind when my olive search came across musicjones regrettable buy into the olive story. I had winnowed my search for an audiophile quality music server to a precious few. It is because I rely heavily on internet jazz radio and would like to access the few [and growing] albums on my macbook pro I could forgo the metadata story,it's all about the sound. I would appreciate any comments as to sound quality.
  13. got a nice round of opinions, may i hitch a ride here? i am totally [singly?] in need of a superior internet tuner...period. will the transporter be the answer for me? i have dacs,pre/pro,i macs, and the sb3 classic. longing for better internet radio. directions anyone?
  14. I too suffered the heartbreak of dropouts and rebuffering with airport express and extreme. Tried other wireless routers, range extenders and floobydust to no good end. Contractor to the attic, 100ft ethernet run, 200 bucks =sleep for the innocent. Novice smartted up...Peechus
