Just updated MU1 to v1.5.8

These few days I was experiencing poor SQ from MU1. The music sounds congested. The soundstage is restricted and small. It doesn’t sound right. MU1 is continuously on for at least 1-2 weeks. Decided to power off, unplug power cable and replug again. The sound is back to the usual expressive, open sounding i am familiar with. My MU1 is on the latest firmware. not sure is it the ‘restart’ the roon server ‘reset’ the sound. interesting findings.

Another improvement I find is the bass goes lower after the update

On initial listening, sonically i feel the latest update delivers more density especially to the mid range. Those who finds 4x fs is artificial previously should find this update promising

I like the renaming and option to disable unused inputs.

New firmware 1.50 is out. Anyone has tried?

the tube preamp still delivered the ‘tube magic’. But we were astonished as the Grimm vc didn’t take away the dynamic etc of music like other digital vc. And i can totally live with Grimm vc without dedicated preamp if digital is my only source.

Today had a listening session with a few listening buddies. One of the highlights of the session is the volume control. We were amazed with MU1 volume control. Compared with a $30k tube preamp, the quality of MU1 digital volume control is so close!

New Grimm MU1 reporting in. Had home trial and decided to purchase one.

My setup is as below Router--> melco N1A-->(ethernet) lumin A1 If I use roon and put melco as the source of music, is the music data transmitted from melco to lumin using the ethernet cable, or is by streaming? Asking this because I am not sure upgrading the ethernet cable between melco to lumin will bring any improvement if I use roon instead of lumin iOS app. Planning to upgrade to sablon ethernet. Somehow I disconnect and reconnect the power cable between A1 and the power supply and it is back to normal. Last time also the same scenario and resolved by doing the above. Will try to clean the contact points and monitor Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
