  1. Has anyone tried one upstream of a weiss dac202 with a USB spdif converter (eg singxer f1/su1). Did it improve things? Or, if you have an F1/SU1 and dac with both usb/spdif, would you say the IR had a greater or lesser effect than the F1/SU1? Thanks
  2. Are you in a position to try the ISO regen with a standard computer/laptop/mac mini (non optimised renderer) and compare with the output of the microrendu on it's own? Thanks, Tom
  3. Ultimately they are both systems that output digital via USB into my dac so the output can easily be compared. I currently use a laptop but it's not ideal. I'm therefore deciding between buying a microrendu or an ISO regen and a small pc/mac mini. I'm curious to know which is likely to bring the greater sound improvement. I can evaluate the functional aspects easily myself. regards
  4. How does Microrendu alone compare with Iso regen with a standard mac mini/or mini pc.
  5. Hi, I have 2 questions: 1) Can anyone give any experience of the actual/expected sound quality difference between the Microrendu vs the ISO Regen with a small dedicated computer (mac mini/nuc). 2) I understand that the microrendu can not auto switch between modes between say Spotify Connect and Roon but must be controlled via the web interface. Can anybody tell me how long the switchover takes? Is it more or less immediate or does it 'restart' the unit? Has anybody done anything neat to remotely switch the mode? eg universal remote/IR controller/ iphone app? Thanks, Tom
  6. As good as Roon is, it's not as user freindly as spotify app for discovering new artists and I love the personalised play lists. Spotify connect or tidal over chromecast is far more immediate and accessible than roon. There is a weird disconnect in roon using tidal between tidal library and roon library. I currently use a chromecast for tidal/spotify/tunein and also have a Roon license but need a new living room friendly PC for it. The sound via chromecast optical is good but not as good as over usb from pc. My ideal would probably be a unit that allows "casting/connect" of spotify lossless and tunein. I tend to prefer the native apps than the generic ones. I have a sonos connect too and found the spotify integration on that poor. I think they are doing spotify connect now too but like the chromecast it's not as good SQ as via my pc. Sonic transporter is basically microrendu right with lower SQ? How does it help?
  7. Hi, What is expected to sound better in each of following 2 scenarios. I have approx £600-700 to spend on new streaming solution. Already have chord mojo. For now looking at. 1. micro rendu 2. Iso regeneration & mac mini If i can afford a bit more or looking at upgrade later.. (Essentially here question is which benefits more from LPS1?) 1. Microrendu & Lps1 2 Iso regen & Lps1 & mac mini I think I'd prefer mac mini (or nuc or some kind) so I can switch seamlessly between spotify and roon. Having to change mode in microrendu puts me off. So ISO regeneration provide equal/better SQ as microrendu to standard pc then would suit me better. Thanks for any insight.
  8. Yes, that I understand, but thanks for clarifying. I just mean replace as the audio renderer/streamer from nas. What I'm not clear about is how the effect of all that low noise compares with say a good usb-spdif converter or better dac. Obviously a mac mini is more flexible/powerful than the microrendu so if similar gains can be achieved by spending those $ on usb converter or better dac then that would be preferable to me. But if consensus is that the microrendu is able to achieve sonic improvements beyond what can be achieved by spending similar $ on usb converter or Dac then it starts to become good value despite the reduced functionality.
  9. Hi, I understand that they perform different functions but, from what I understand, they can both be used to improve sound quality. So let's say I have $700 to spend. I could use it to replace my mac mini with a microrendu and get a cleaner usb output, Or I could buy a $700 usb-spdif converter for the mac mini. Both with a view to improving SQ but which is likely to have a more siginificant impact?
  10. Hi, I currently run a mac mini into a cheap smsl dac. I'm looking to upgrade in a value orientated way and have couple of questions. 1. how does the microrendu compare with best of similarly priced usb/spdif converters? Would a decent spdif converter with Mac mini be bettered by the microrendu? 2 does it make sense to use a USB to spdif converter with microrendu, would it improve further? 3 do higher end dacs nullify the impact of microrendu or spdif converters? (Because they clean up the signal internally? Thanks, Tom
