  1. My PGGB journey started with PGGB-RT and I came away very impressed with its capabilities. The free trial of the full version is particularly beneficial, allowing users to assess PGGB's potential firsthand. While PGGB may not suit everyone due to system requirements, cost, or personal sonic preferences, dismissing the software without trying it—when only time is at stake—seems unwise. Audiophiles are often tinkerers and explorers at heart, driven by a passion to enhance their musical enjoyment. We value the opinions of trusted reviewers whose insights we've validated through our experiments. This trust, however, can sometimes foster tribalism and resentment, especially when significant financial investments are involved. A major advantage of PGGB is its range of options, from a free version to more expensive upgrades. This flexibility allows users to progress at their own pace, depending on how well the software integrates with their setup. In my case, PGGB-RT has outperformed other PCM and DSD upsamplers I've tried, making it a standout in my audio system. This motivated my initial purchase of PGGB-IT! 64 and now, PGGB-PLUS. Despite not supporting streaming—a limitation of its architecture—PGGB remains an invaluable tool in my sonic arsenal and my preferred upsampler. I highly recommend giving it a try and experiencing its benefits for yourself.
  2. While I am a big fan of the SRC-DX, for the last few days I've been using a Topping HS 02 with my Mojo2, and it sounds pretty darn comparable to the SRC-DX. I've had the device for awhile, but haven't used it in a long time and haven't used it since I got the Mojo2 and SRC-DX. I was inspired to try this by @rayon who mentioned using an Intona with his Chord DAC (this mention was on Head-Fi). Adding a USB isolator and additional USB Cable could be worth your while.
  3. Hi ZB - thanks for all this material. How should we think about the tradeoffs between PGGB PCM and PGGB DSD for both the lowest possible rates (PGGB 64 PCM vs highest available dsd option for that license) and highest possible rates PGGB 256 PCM vs. DSD)? For example, it seems that at the high end PGGB 256 PCM has lower noise floor in audible range allowing for better small signal reconstruction and less time domain precision relative to PGGB DSD 1024 at 9th order modulator because of the higher sample rate of dsd? Hopefully this question makes sense!

Hi - I just upgraded to 5.6. I tried to re-load my Qobuz login because tracks weren't streaming (I'm running all on localhost - no streaming endpoint) and now I can't login to Qobuz. When I attempt to login, I get the below: Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  7. Agreed - it comes down to the listening.
  8. Thanks @Josh Mound for your thoughtful piece. I agree: The reviewer in question's assertive promotion of the Harman Curve as the only correct standard, and his dismissal of alternative preferences, is unethical and misleading. As my experience with this hobby has grown, I've found myself increasingly drawn to reviews that compare the item in question with something I already own. For instance, in the realm of headphones, I particularly value reviews that juxtapose the model being discussed with the HD6xx. This preference stems from two reasons: firstly, the HD6xx is widely owned and favored, making it a familiar benchmark for many. Secondly, its affordability means that it's accessible to a broad audience, thereby serving as a universal reference point. From there, it's up to the reviewer to make further comparisons. Similarly, when it comes to IEMs, I see the merit in having a Harman-tuned IEM in one's collection. Given the range of affordable options, this provides a baseline for understanding a particular sound signature, enabling more meaningful comparisons with others' experiences. Furthermore, I believe that frequency response is not the sole determinant of quality. Factors such as detail / clarity, damping / decay, and coherence/imaging—attributes particularly noticeable in the variance between single and multi-driver IEMs—cannot be fully encapsulated by frequency response charts alone. While that reviewer's website can be a source of frustration for me, I find myself consulting it occasionally for its measurements, which can be informative. I'm thankful for the presence of other resources (SBAF, @GoldenOne, Danny Ritchie) in the community that also conduct equipment measurements. The less time I need to spend navigating that particular site, the better! PS - is there a reason we're not naming the reviewer? I feel like we're talking about Voldemort and the Death Eaters here - he who shall not be named! A fun project could be assigning Harry Potter characters to folks in the Audio Industry =)
  9. I intend to experiment with a Cayin RU7. But that maxes out at dsd256.
  10. Will these optimizations trickle down to pggb it? Or are they limited to the main pggb app?
  11. Very cool. I'm excited to hear how folks like DSD vs PCM on ESS and AKM chip based DACs. And how DSD on those DACs compare to PCM on chord DACs.
  12. Hi everyone: I will be attending CanJam NYC; if anyone on this thread is attending as well, please let me know as I'd love to meet you!
  13. Hey @Josh Mound - I just wanted to send a big thank you your way. I've been loving the Kiwi Ears Cadenzas (using spinfit W1 tips and an aftermarket LetShuoer Chimera cable via Mojo 2). I actually like the Cadenza more than the Thie Audio Oracle - the latter out resolves the former only by a little, while the former sounds far more coherent, impactful, and timbrely (if that's a word) accurate to me. Suffice it to say, my interest in the DTE500 is piqued!
