  1. I like 2cellos recent videos. Nice sound quality. https://youtu.be/uT3SBzmDxGk
  2. I am sure you already searched the net for answers and most likely already tried most suggestions, but just in case, here are a couple I found: *Disable deep-sleep states (C1, C1E etc) in the BIOS. *Install the latest drivers.
  3. You are using exact OS + app setup in your laptop vs the desktop? I wonder if you could try booting to another OS, like from a bootable Ubuntu USB key, and see if same noise is there when using another OS. May be then you might know it is definitely hardware related or not.

    Car Audio

I use Focal for the front and JL audio amp and sub.
  5. My understanding is that optical out is not capable of passing multichannel hd audio.
  6. I used to have a music setup in similar size room, around 12x12 feet. I always had problem with the dip around 100 Hz. It looks like the chart from post above pointed out similar dip, plus pointed out other dips too. If at all possible, avoid small square room.
  7. Wav files via USB external drive connected to the car's USB port. Upgraded my speakers, amp, and added sub. Put dynamat on all 4 doors. Blast the music loud enough that signal to noise ratio is good enough to enjoy the music.
  8. I have read great review for the Paradigm signature series. Paradigm is discontinuing the current signature series due to upcoming new top of the line series. As a result, authorized dealers can now sell those online with big discount. For example, a pair of S6 retails for us$6600 is currently on sales in eBay by authorized dealer in the $4500 range. Might worth a look.
  9. Hmm, interesting. I think Jud guess based on loudness differences instead of sound quality?
  10. I mentioned a while back I would check with my other setup, but I got too busy with other tasks. So, no, not going to provide further impression other than I can't hear a difference with my Samsung Note 5 phone with a v-moda headphone. Looking forward to hear the answers.
  11. Thx! Will test it out once I am back from my trip. Yeah, my headset is just a V-moda I got from Costco years ago for around $80, I believe.. Hope that is good enough.
  12. My systems are modest. So, you said Samsung Note 5 is not good enough. I have two others options at home: MacBook to Emotiva Stealth DAC to headset MacBook to NAD c390dd to Paradigm Studio 10 speakers Are they good enough for you to even attempt a listen to your test files?
  13. On my android phone, the songs sounded nice. But I can't hear a different. Well, this means majority of users out there don't care.
  14. Hi Craig, Good to know you still like it! The LS50 have good bass. But I like certain music loud and that requires sub. Yes, I agree it is not easy to integrate subs. The last time I was using the ls50, I crossed it at 90 Hz. Then, I further cross the sub out from the NAD with a pre amp to cross at 50hz at 12db. Taking the sub out as is from NAD seems to make the bass sound too bloated. With lower crossover point, with two 12inch subs, I got the bass hit I wanted. : )
  15. Hi Craig, I know if have been a while you last posted. May I know if you still listening to this combination? I have the same pair of NAD and KEF and I was really happy with it for many months. But, recently I did a bit of comparison using different combination of amp and speaker and I found that the NAD/KEF combination is a bit too subdued through the upper-midrange and treble. Here are my observations: NAD + Paradigm studio 10 = more pronounced upper mid and treble, but not too bright when turn up load, like 90 db+ NAD -> Emotiva Amp -> Paragidm studio 10 = get too bright when turn up loud NAD + KEF = Less pronounced upper-mid and treble NAD -> Emotiva amp -> KEF = more pronounced upper mid and treble. So far I like the NAD + Paradigm Studio 10 a little more. Cymbals sounds more lifelike to me. May I know if you have the same observation?
