    HQ Player

Interesting that it's enough. Looks like the cheapest configuration (256GB SSD and 8GB RAM) would be the way to go (with music stored elsewhere).

    HQ Player

Interesting! How much RAM do you have, 8GB or 16GB? Does it make a difference if it's 8GB or 16GB RAM?

    HQ Player

This is very interesting! So what is the M1 Mac Mini not able to do? Convolution, filters? Is 16GB RAM required or is 8GB enough?

So is the benefit of the CUDA offload dependent on the FP64 performance? Most of the consumer GPUs have low FP64 performance as that's not needed for either gaming or machine learning.
  5. Right, but would that not be true of both "GentooPlayer-RT-MIN-EUP100" and "GentooPlayer-RT-MIN-NOGRAPH"? So what's the difference?
  6. Right, but there is no info on the difference between, say, "GentooPlayer-RT-MIN-EUP100" and "GentooPlayer-RT-MIN-NOGRAPH". And I mean feature differences, not sonic ones. I could try what they sound like, but I'm wondering what features stop working if I choose one vs another.
  7. Ok. It worked now. Thanks. Is there some info on the feature differences between the different kernels? For instance, GentooPlayer-RT-ST vs. GentooPlayer-RT-MIN?
  8. Ok. I did the gp-update, but first I had to remove the RAM disk. But trying to get the RT kernel, I now get this error: So it downloaded the correct RPi4 version, but then tried to open the RPi3 version, which doesn't exist.
  9. First time user with a couple of questions I couldn't find in the earlier messages: 1) How do I rename the player, both the network name to something like "gentooplayer-livingroom.local" and the UPNP to something similar? Now the UPNP is automatically "GentooPlayer-UPNP". The problem is that I have more than one RPi 4 with GentooPlayer on the same network and would like to identify clearly which is which. 2) I tried updating to the latest RT kernel (4.19.106-200307-RT) and I get one of two errors: https://github.com/antonellocaroli/GP-Rpi4-Kernel/releases/download/4.19.106-200307-RT/GP-Rpi4-Kernel-RT-4.19.106-200307.tar.xz a. Either 404 not found OR b. "ERROR: cannot verify github.com's certificate" How do I get past this?
  10. A couple of questions about these three products: Intona, Regen, and iUSB3. 1) Am I correct in that Intona isolates the USB power & signal from the source\ power supply noise and that the UltraCap LPS-1 isolates the powered component (e.g., Regen) from the AC mains noise? So the combination of Intona + Regen w/ LPS-1 should be electrically as isolated as possible from sources of noise? 2) I've read comments by others who prefer iUSB3 over Regen or Intona alone and that Regen + Intona is better than either alone, but how does Regen + Intona compare with iUSB3? Is iUSB3 + Intona better than either alone?
  11. Thanks. It is as I expected then, which means a possible system could be where HQPlayer would then output to the "main" set-up in the living room and the other rooms would get "plain" Roon. Good to know. I was thinking of different musics playing in different rooms rather than the same being streamed everywhere.
  12. My computer audio set up currently consists of two iMacs with their own libraries & USB DACs and two other rooms without music :-( I've recently been intrigued by the possibility of using Roon to manage the library and HQPlayer to output the music. So the idea is to use one iMac to keep the library and run both Roon & HQPlayer on it. Each room would then have something like a Sonore uRendu connected to the iMac via ethernet cable or ethernet over power line. Each uRendu would then be connected via USB to a DAC. So the question is: 1) I know that Roon can output through HQPlayer and that Roon can output to multiple rooms, but can Roon output through HQPlayer different streams to different rooms? If that is the case, then I have two follow-up questions: 2) Can each room have a separate room correction curve? 3) How powerful should the iMac be to be able to handle 2-3 simultaneous processes to upsample to DSD?
