Synology DS 720+ 2 Bay

SuperDad....Your JS-2 is on my next upgrade list. I would use it with my EtherRegen, but between my router and my NAS.. Which of these two would you recommend I use the JS-2 with ? Thanks

I recently bought and installed a Synology DS 720+. All my gear, my router and my modem are in the same location. When I set it up I assumed I would eventually move the Synology because of noise. I won't be doing that because the Synology is dead quiet. That's my experience.

Synology 720+ feeding ---AuralicAries 2.1-EtherRegen--Router....DAC is a Shiit Yiggy....Ethernet cabling is all Pangea SE The other side of my audio system- Pass Labs 250.8--Pass Labs XP 22--PS Audio P-10 power regenerator--Martin Logan Montis. My next moves are a linear power supply...I probably prefer Alex's JS-2. Should i utilize both inputs to the JS-2 ? If so...besides the EtherRegen ...Router or NAS...which would be better to mate with the JS-2 ? I'll also consider the Ethernet cable you recommended. Thanks, John

Thanks for the link. I guess you got to ask yourself-How far do I want to chase digital/network audio ? My question is- without trying all the Network tweaks/gadgets...Which enhancements in Network Audio are critical to high end analogue like sound. You could make the argument...all of them, but whats the priority order that most computer Audiophile's follow. My current Digital Audio system- Auralic Aries 2.1---Yiggy----Uptone EtherRegen---Synology 720+ NAS----ISP provided router----mostly generic Ethernet cabling. What improvements would you add to this? I have at least 50K into the analogue side including speakers. All Pass Labs components/VPI Prime Signature TT/PS Audio P-10 Regenerator/ All Audience AU SX cabling/ Martin Logan Montis speakers. Any and all direction and suggestions pertaining to the Digital/Network side would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

I want to keep it simple for now. Although I want to explore anything within reason to improve the sound as I go. LOL- I don't even know what a media converter is.

As a follow up- Regarding the NAS and the Auralic....Do I want to avoid plugging them directly into the Router ? I want my system to be as noise free as possible. Thanks

I just purchased a Auralic Aries 2.1 -Wireless Streaming Transporter. I bought it without an internal HD. I get it later this week. I also just purchased and installed a Synology DS 720+ I have all my music on this device in a shared folder. My network currently includes my Router---Netgear switch. I want to add an Uptone EtherRegen in the chain for the best sound quality I can achieve. Question- Between the router---switch--the Synology NAS and the Auralic Aries, what would be the most advisable/best configuration for adding the EtherRegen ? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate it. I have no idea where to start...so I threw that combination out there. That's exactly the type of answer I'm looking for..in terms of direction. I don't want to under do this...or massively over do it.

BTW- The cost on this combination is 179 + 359 = 538 I'd like to be at this price point...but am open to spend more if it makes sense.

I'm considering the Auralic Aries 2.1. My dealer recommends that I use a NAS for optimum sound quality. The only storage on the NAS that I would ever have is maybe 2 TB of flac music files. I'm considering this combination- Synology DS 118-1 bay enclosure. With a Samsung 4TB 870 QVO 2.5 SATA SSD Will this work? Is there a better combination that I should consider? Any opinions/thoughts are highly appreciated. BTW- I already have 2 backup drives-A Samsung SSD and an Apple Thunderbolt (Lacie) that I use as a backup to my music library.

Has anybody ever compared these 2 fabulous streamers ? Also- What are the pro's and cons of internal storage as opposed to external storage? I'll soon be in the market for a 6-8k streamer without a DAC. Sound quality being the biggest priority. I would also be limited to just flac file playback. I'm not interested in DSD or MQA. Thanks in advance for any and all help.
