  1. I bought an Allo USBridge back in 2018 but never got around to play with it! I finally booted it up now that many are stuck at home, I am running into a few issues, looking for help: 1) My USBridge comes with DietPi. I would like to run RiPieee instead. I created a RoPieee microSD with Etcher, stick it in, but the USBridge continues to boot into DietPi, as if it does not see the microSD at all. Can I make the USBridge to run RoPieee instead? 2) In ROON, I can see the USBridge listed as three "atm7059_link". But according to the manual, I should choose "Combo384 Amanero". What am I missing? Thank you in advance!
  2. Hey Mais,

I noticed you had once recommended the Neo d+ class S USB cable.

I've used it for the last couple of years, but haven't compared it to anything but the cheapest Audioquest cable - and then only briefly (it was a red one).

I'd be curious to know how it compares to well-regarded USB cables. If so, how did it stack up?

I'd appreciate your thoughts, thanks! :-)

  3. This is afterall, science. I find it hard to believe that these audiopile players makers have not come up with a convincing analysis of why their players are needed. ws
  4. Right. Are you aware of any technical analysis of Core Audio's upsampling function?
  5. so there is nothing wrong with itunes!
  6. Hi, With all the plug-in players out there that ride on top of iTunes, I am curious if anyone has ever done a technical review or analysis of iTunes itself? I am wondering what are the technical reasons for why iTunes playback engine is inferior. Does anyone know if such a review/analysis exist? Thanks in advance.
  7. Pure Music 1.88a seems unstable. I got it to work for a few mins, then when i changed track, it stopped working. It keeps on saying Loading Track...
  8. Thanks Blake! You should do it and buy it! I really love the fact I do not have to mess with stuff like cables anymore. Other than the 3 power cords (Mac MIni and Devialet), I only have one AES/EBU cable and speaker cables. That's it! After 20 yrs in this hobby, I really wonder why things have to be so complicated. Technology has really advanced to a point that I think we can get BETTER sound by simplifying. ws
  9. Hi, actually, I am using the Devialet's XO. Devialet's subout is low level, if you want a high level subout from the Devialet, you need to buy another Devialet! I think 2 is enough for now. =) Devialet AIR is very good. There are two limitations: 1) 24/96. It downsamples anything above to 24/96 2) It does not support any AU Plugins. I need one plugin... not willing to let that one go...
  10. Thanks for the feedback. The two dips may be subwoofer/main speaker phase alignment. Will look into it when I have time, but they are really insignificant. The overall balance is great right now!
  11. Acoustic panels... RPG, DIY and the ones you are referring to are Vicoustic. They actually come with a detachable wooden diffuser. But I prefer absorption for these panels...
  12. Have gone minimalist lately, sold my Soulution 710 and unplugged my BADA etc. Now it's just this. Mac Mini and Soulution 590 mounted behind the Devialet. I cannot get over how well made the Q1s are.
