Definitely interested in DSD Version impressions, many DACs can reproduce native PCM very well, look at Metrum Acoustic DACs for instance, what makes Holo Audio special is their DSD, Spring and hopefully now Cyan... Pete, no, please read above (Bimmer100 is one to take particular note of), or in short PCM version - Has headamp with volume control DSD version - Has no headamp and no volume control due to way (native) DSD works For speakers, either DAC will work but if you want native DSD go DSD verion, if you want native PCM go PCM version Remember with HQ Player you can convert in the computer, so for instance you can take redbook or high res PCM and convert it to DSD (128 or 256) in the machine then send that DSD signal to the DSD Version of the Holo Audio Cyan which will play it as is with no oversampling (NOS mode), or you can just send beautiful native DSD tracks to it and play them natively (with no PCM conversion at all) using NOS mode again. Capiche?

I believe Denafrips DACS (Ares/Pontus etc) also do DSD over R2R. Metrum do PCM only over R2R. Can the volume control be bypassed on the Cyan DAC?

The Holo Audio Cyan sounds like it's what the world is waiting for. Why aren't more people considering the combined potential between HQ Player and this DAC with the native DSD module, meaning we'll be able to play our DSD audio natively to this R2R NOS DSD DAC and upsample our PCM in HQPlayer to DSD128/256/512 (depending on CPU/preference etc) and again send to the Cyan Native DSD DAC? Will this be available in the UK soon? (London) Regards

Both are principally Digital to Analogue Converters though, most will be using between preamps or or speakers and computers, rather than for headphone use, being Ifi's top end DAC so far. I understand Ifi went back to drawing board but this has been literally years and years now in the waiting, from way back when it was going to be known as the idsd Mini. Ifi Audio really need to present something soon in my view.

Ok I'm out, this is a joke now, recommend everyone here look into the Holo Audio Spring DAC as an alternative to the idsd Pro.
