  1. Thanks Pogger - I am aware of the value of metadata as I am a photographer so I understand your point. Does XLD require you to manually enter the data or can you elect to have it done automatically? All I would really care about is artist, CD title, and track name.
  2. Hi All - Seriouly thinking of converting my CDs to FLAC to reduce the clutter. I read this thread: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/cd-flac-mac-22216/ Is XLD the best ripper for a newb? Why would that second program be important? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi all - new to board. Just sharing what is possibly a common and well-understood experience. Bought a DAC 1 Pre USB a year ago. I uilize iTunes on a Dell laptop in conjunction with a NAS drive. DAC sounded great when it worked but it never worked for long. Constant drop-outs no matter which port I used. Even sent unit back to Benchmark for evaluation be Elias Gwinn ( very helpful, supportive man). Unit was fine. My IT guy suggested that that ports on my lap just did not have the juice to power the signal and recommended I get a desktop. Long story short: I plugged it into a powered Belkin USB hub and it works fine. Never occured to me that a powered USB hub would be better than a port in the laptop but there you go. Wish I had found this board a year ago!
