  1. Time for T+A to make a Mac version then 🤩
  2. I am afraid I cannot be of any assistance. I have a Mac mini as music server. The question discussed above was about the unix kernel used in the Neo Stream itself. As the Mac doesn’t support dsd above 256 (over Dop only) I wanted to use the Neo Stream as an interface between Mac and Dac200 and use dsd512 via UPnP. Sound wise I had a good impression when I used the Neo Stream as a standalone Dac with dsd512. The interface should be possible if the Neo Stream has kernel version 5.x, the current kernel version of the Neo Stream 4.4 doesn’t support this interface. With the assistance of @OE333 Ifi is looking to patch the Neo Stream. Donald
  3. @OE333: thank you very much for your efforts.
  4. Recently I got the Dac200. After a few days playing the sound improved considerably. Up till now I used temporarily a Neo Stream as a dac, the difference in sound is beyond compare. So very happy with my purchase! With the Neo Stream I found dsd512 sounded best. I was wondering if I could use the Neo as an intermediate: Audirvāna upsampling to dsd512, via upnp to the Neo Stream and then via digital out usb to the Dac200, just to see if this sounds better or not. If I do that I see in the Ifi app that everything is working, but if I choose dac200 out in the Ifi app, the Ifi app states that the dac200 only supports Dop. The app changes automatically from the selected dsddirect out to dac200 Dop. The Dac200 somehow gives a signal to the Neo Stream that it is Dop only… The Dac200 displays no signal with this setting. Any ideas if and how this can be altered? I also submitted a ticket to Ifi, but they don’t have a clue.
  5. I listened to both dac200 and holo may kte at two different dealers both with the same pcm and dsd material. Although both installations were not familiar, both a friend of mine and myself preferred the dac200 over the holo may. The dac200 sounded more musical, natural and less digital than the may. My friend designs and builds Aitos tube pre-amplifiers and otl power amplifiers and has very trained ears. I used to work in a hifi shop many years ago and compared many amplifiers, speakers and dacs. This gives some credibility to what we heard, but of course always try to compare at home in your own installation to hear the differences for yourself.
  6. Apparently the same kind of heat pump developments in the Netherlands: https://www.blueheartenergy.com
  7. I heard both the KTE and the T+A dac at different dealers, so in an unknown installation. I clearly preferred the T+A over the KTE, for what it is worth. More analogue like sound and better portraying of musical images. What was the influence of the dac and what of the different installations is of course hard to say, although both installation were of respected manufacturers, of which the dealers thought it would show off the capacities of the respective dacs. As always, only a listen in your own installation will tell.
  8. You can: use the file label next to local, then you get a representation of your file hierarchy. If you label a file for example 7-1-4 and put all your 7.1.4 music in there you can see and select your music this way. If you also select the four little blocks on top of the menu representing thumpnail view and you also copy the art of the album on your album folder you get the same representation as you normally would in Studio!
  9. But, That said, I prefer to use an app like Yate for tagging..
  10. You actually can change for example the title of an album in one go: select Control-I, first select one track and then select all tracks (Control-A). Within the pop-up information menu you can change the title or whatever you like for all tracks.
  11. Why should you? Studio does the down sampling by itself. I have a dac that also only goes to 24-192. All files (PCM and DSD) are automatically down sampled to 24-192 or 24-176
  12. Hi Jos, I noticed that Apple sometimes does not display the names of external disks of my OWC DAS correctly in the finder. If for example the disk is named Disk1, it is sometimes displayed as Volume instead of Disk1 after starting up the Mac… The synchronisation by Studio is done on the disk name, in this example Disk1, but even so Studio started to synchronise Volume. This generated duplicates in my case. The solution is simple until Damien finds a solution: before starting Studio check if the disk name (or names) is (are) displayed correctly. Since I do this I did not have duplicates anymore. Donald
  13. On the website of T+A are two reviews of the DAC200 in German: https://www.ta-hifi.de/audiosysteme/serie-200/dac-200-d-a-wandler/ See “Testberichte”. For non German speakers, you could use a translate program.
  14. It would be interesting to understand why you experience so many problems, while I have next to none. Is it the different operating system, the attached hardware, the different file layout (AIFF, Flac, dsd, etc.), upsampling or not, etc. Maybe even tagging!? it should not make a difference, but obviously it does… Donald
  15. For a small company like Audirvana I have a huge respect. It is not simple to support so many different interfaces to their software besides keeping Studio itself up and running on a Mac as well as on Windows. If you use Studio in its basic form, like I do, there are no serious software issues. Only some minor user interface ones. Basic means: no upsampling or sometimes just simple r8 factor of two upsampling. My music resides on an OWC Thunderbolt DAS using a Mac mini 2018. Thunderbolt has its little quirks in combination with Studio, but I know how to handle them. I hope you all will give them time and positive suggestions to improve and ironing out glitches in their very good sounding software. That excellent sound is their raison d’être. Being a small company it will surely cost them time to realise all improvements and interfaces. Enjoy the music!
