  1. Yes, the platform otherwise performs flawlessly. All of my music appears in my iPad based Aurender app. Selection is as it ever was, as is playback. I’ll update as things progress.
  2. The screen is receiving power because it glows. But, what you say is a possibility. Frankly, I’m not a DIY sort of person. I far prefer to let professionals deal with these things. It’s one of those things that I should have checked out - whether Aurender has a good service network.
  3. Im sorry if this is a topic that has been raised elsewhere but I’m getting a little frustrated. My N100H LCD screen has died. The screen has turned white. The best that Aurender could tell me to do is to refer the matter to my local dealer. The trouble is that my dealer doesn’t repair the devices. I live in Ontario, Canada - anyone got any ideas?
  4. To my continuingly mild upset, my son comes from an audiophile upbringing, my daughter too. On my son's part, he uses music as a background "accent". He's just gutted a house and is rebuilding the entire inside. He's purchased and is installing Polk in-ceiling speakers and he's setting up a Sonos system in various rooms. Just a couple of weeks ago, he said that they don't play enough music for or around my grandson. My son and his wife listen mostly to streamed Apple Music R&B, hip hop and rap. My daughter has a one box speaker system, she listens to the stuff that she was brought up with Nina Simone, Keith Jarrett lots of other jazz and an array of classical music - but she doesn't seem to care about the vehicle for the sound. All of her music is streamed from Apple Music. Both of my kids like and enjoy my music system but, when I pop my clogs I can't imagine them scrambling over each other to get at my great audio gear. I know that my daughter can tell the difference between Mozart's Requiem through her one piece system and through mine. I don't pretend to understand the phenomenon but I guess that since all of their peers are into streaming, it's just the way of things.
  5. I'm with you. Frankly, I can't even remember what the front page looks like. I search a TIDAL for specific genre and to explore /pursue new interests. I'm generally not lured by front pages.
  6. I'm still sitting on the fence about the A10. I have the same question that I had two months ago. Will the A10 DAC compare favourably to my ARC DAC8? I guess that I'm going to have to convince my dealer to give me a loaner. As for Roon, I'm off the bandwagon. As an avid classical music lover, when it comes to reporting meta data, Roon falls to second place when compared to the Aurender Conductor.
  7. I think that you are right and I will do. Frankly, I was very seriously thinking of making the jump to the A10. I still had to check out and compare the onboard DAC to that in my DAC8. I'm not saying that the purchase won't happen but I'm now reticent.
  8. I'm not a complainer, never have been and never will. Indeed, the last time that I complained this loudly about anything was when, after a long awaited but bad update, I dumped the Simaudio Moon MIND180 in favour of the Aurender. But, unless I move to the Ayre Digital Hub and an external storage device, there is nothing that I can do but wait until they sort out the mess. Even though they now have a 50/50 interface, I'm reluctant to leave behind Aurender's rock solid hardware and it's 90% good connection between the hardware and software. We shall see.
  9. Okay, I officially dislike the recent Aurender update. Until this time, I've had zero problems with the Aurender app. Currently, I don't have the time to putz around with my music folders in order to figure out what's going on. Albums that were in one folder are now in, sometimes, eight or ten folders. Help - I couldn't care less about tinkering, I just want to play good music.
  10. All of this very descriptive Vandersteen talk almost makes make me want to trade in my Revel Ultima Salon 2s. But I ain't gonna do it. I've had extended listening sessions with the Vandersteen Model5 Carbon and my ears and head still prefer the Revels - not by much but by enough.
  11. I use the Bryston BUC-1. I bought the BUC-1 because my ARC DAC8 would not play nice with the Aurender. The DAC8 allows USB input from appropriately equipped computers but not the Aurender. In any event, the BUC-1 does far more than provide. Channel to my DAC. When I hooked it up, there was a very slight and pleasant change in SQ.
  12. Oops! No intention to mislead. I've got the ARC DAC8 not the DAC9. However my question stands, I like my current SQ and wonder about the A10 output. I'll have to see if I can borrow an A10 from my dealer.
  13. Well, this is a stroke of luck. Do these different animals speak music differently? I'm mostly a jazz and classical aficionado (he says as he listens to Kendrick Lamar through Tidal). My DAC9 is fed by an N100H and in turn feeds an Ayre pre/power arrangement. My dealer has the A10 but hasn't had an opportunity to critically listen to it. I'd be interested in your side-by-side comparison - thoughts that might be of interest to others with stand alone DACs.
  14. I swore off upgradeitis about 18 months ago. However the A10 looks terribly alluring. I don't expect that anyone here can answer it but, the critical issue is, will the DAC in the A10 best my ARC DAC9?
  15. Here's a terrifically interesting piece by Jim Collinson of Linn. In my view, Jim raises some interesting questions about the philosophy and the monetizing behind MQA. I found Jim's analogizing MQA to the Netflix/Amazon model to be particularly poignant. i should say that by personal predilection, I still want to 'own' my music - a proposition that is becoming increasingly difficult. I use streaming for non-critical listening of narrow dynamic range music. Material employing a wider dynamic range I end up owning after the hunt for the best recording Many times red book) https://www.linn.co.uk/blog/mqa-is-bad-for-music
