  1. I think SACDs really missed the boat when they didn't maximize on the multi channel aspect. That's what separates SACDs from CDs the most is that you have the option to have it in multi channel. If we are comparing both formats in just stereo, how many people can realistically hear the difference and still shell out more money for the SACD? Also ripping SACDs is still not super easy compared to CDs. You still have to jump through hoops and you need specific hardware to play and decode it. Blu Rays on the other hand are much more easier to deal with. There isn't much content for Blu Ray audio, but I have a few of them and ripping them is way easier. They still have the same problem as SACDs, still not enough multi channel content.
  2. My DAC uses DoP (DSD over PCM) when I listen to my rips and apparently it's different than DSD converting to PCM, but I don't quite understand how it works. Is DoP a lossy process?
  3. So for all my rips, it shows as "1 Bit" in my foobar, but I've seen SACD rips that show "24 Bit". Are those people ripping their SACD's differently?
  4. Bought myself a 2nd hand Pioneer BDP 80FD strictly for ripping purposes. Used wifi to get the IP address. Ripped a few cantonese pop SACDs without a hitch. I would like to thank all the people that have contributed to this thread. If it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't have picked up the Pioneer player.
  5. GPU as in video cards. If you are connecting your PC to the receiver through HDMI, it's usually through the video card and I don't think there are any that can do DSD. A lot of receivers can do DSD decoding like my old Yamaha RXV1800, but I don't think video cards can yet.
  6. For myself, I connect my PC to my home theatre receiver via HDMI. I can play multi channel SACD ISO's through foobar. I have to convert to PCM because no GPU's allows DSD playback via HDMI, but that's fine in my opinion. Going through the receiver is probably the cheapest and most convenient way if you already have a home theatre set up.
