HOLO Audio Spring DAC - R2R DSD512

Hi Miska, I am feeding my Dac directly from the sonicTransporter i9 with usb. How can I get a copy of Hqplayer OS? Not seeing anyway to do so on your website. Is there an additional fee for it? -

Miska, I noticed from your screenshot that you are able to do 1.5 mhz at 20 bit. I can only do it at 16 bit. I am using embedded 4.18.1 on my Sonic Transport i9 to Holo May dac. My i9 is not allowing me to update to the latest version (4.20.0) yet. Do you know if it's the newest version that is allowing you to do 20 bit, or some other reason? Thanks, Sean -

I am able to use Hqplayer 1.5 mhz upsampling on my Holo May Dac. Had Holo Spring 2 and it worked on it too. I had to lower the bit output to 16 bit though to make it work. Using a SonicTransporter i9 server straight to dac with usb. Not sure if it will work through a Rendu though. -
That's right. I forgot. Everything loads into RAM on the computer. It should make no difference then. Must be that I prefer 6.1 in my system. Also seem to like kernel 15 over 16.

Anyone experiment with different usb sticks with wtfplay on them? Wondering if there is any sq difference between different ones? I recently tried the latest version 6.2. In order to do so, I bought a new usb 3.0 stick and loaded 6.2 on it. Tried it out for a couple of days and decided I liked the 6.1 better. So I put the old 2.0 usb stick back in. Could it be that the reason I liked the old version because of the usb stick or was it the software? I have read that usb 3.0 is noisier. Any thoughts on this Frd?

Yes that would be bad. I did find an IEC cord with a 240v plug online. I bought it so the person I sold my my preamp to would have one. I did not use one in my setup because I wanted to use my existing audiophile cords. One other thing that could be an issue is that the circuit breakers could be over sized. In my case I used two 20 amp breakers for my one 240v circuit. I probably should have used lower rated breakers for this circuit.

DavidZ, I have done this exact thing before and had no issues. Not currently doing it, as I sold the 240 volt preamp I was using. I was just curious if there was a technical reason I was not aware of for not doing it. I think it is unwise because of code, and insurance reasons. Just wondering if Speedskater has any other reasons it is unwise?

Hi Speedskater, Just out of curiosity, Why would using a three wire US type 120 volt cord on a three wire 240 volt circuit not be safe? The component will still draw the same amount of power whether it is 120v or 240v. A 240 volt piece of equipment will just draw less current. Is it is just because the cord and outlet are not rated for 240 volt service? Since less current will be drawn using 240v vs 120v, would that not make up for it?

Thanks for the update. I have not experienced even one drop out since using Wtfplay. That is very nice. I would get them from time to time using Windows 10. After Windows latest update the dropouts were getting ridiculous. So tired of Windows B.S. I was going to try Audiophile Optimizer for Windows 10, but will hold off for a while.

@frd__ Any news on when or if gapless playback might be available?

"ISO REGEN is not a USB3 hub. The USB receptacles are USB 2.0, and the Superspeed portion if the hub chip inside is not connected. John & Alex picked a specific USB3 hub chip to use as USB2 hub for the signal integrity advantage." Thanks for the info. Still would like to know if it works better through a usb 3 port or not. I also have a Lightspeed Revive which is USB 3. I prefer it to the Regen, but ordered the new Iso Regen because of the Isolation. Should be interesting to compare the two side by side.

Got this software up and running this morning and have not been able to stop listening all day. After messing around with the frames, periods, and priority I am hearing the lowest noise floor I have ever heard through my system. It really is something. Thank you Frd, for putting the effort into creating this software. Sean
