  1. There are 3 benefits in upsampling to a file then playing with HQPlayer and DAC8DSD: 1. $£¥€ : You don't need to spend big Money in a high end computer system to upsample on the fly. 2. No Need for Advanced Noise Isolation or a Second Minicomputer for NAA 3. HQPlayer is the best sounding player capable of DSD512 - foobar2000 in comparison sounds very limited. There is one caviat: the files are hughe (15-25GB for one CD depending on the playing lenght). But: File Storage is cheap. 4Tb USB ~ 115€ Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile

  3. And no power conditioner. Instead I'm using a relative cheap wireworld Power Distributor protected against magnetic distortion by mu-metal foil. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  4. I'm using a wireworld Silver electra 7 power chord with very good results. It's a RCA Plug with a 75Ohm resistor. Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  5. Sound Improvements Like to share some tricks with you to optimize the sound quality of the Dac8Dsd even further. The Dac is very sensitive regarding power cables. Be shure to try different brands. I use Wireworld power cables with great results. Dimming the "Lightshow" down to Zero opens up the sound. Plug in an 75Ohm Rca into the Spdif Output (small improvement). Get good footers to place the dac upon. Try small Cardas myrtle wood blocks. Incredible improvement. And we all know, DSD512 is the way to go for best of the best sound. Have fun! Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  6. Problem solved! First, I did blind Tests between dsf and dff. Result: indifferent. With Some upsampled Songs I hit 10/10 (!) with others only 4/10. Second. Some thoughts. Rating 4/10 is like guessing = there is no audible difference ! With the 10/10 blindtest Rating there Must be a difference. Third. Conclusion. Software used "XiSRC". I additionaly did hit the "ISP Reduction" Button while upsampling to 512 .dsf! That's what leads to the (Bad) different Sound! DSD .dsf and .dff do not sound different! Trank You all for your comments and helping/explaining!
  7. I'm sitting in front of my Hifi listening to DSD512 offline upsampled Music. By error I checked the "wrong" Button in the Civero/Xiscr Sotware and hit the "Philips .dff" Format Output instead of the usual "Sony .dsf". And guess what, the Formats Do Sound different! Philips .Dff is the "better", cleaner, more Natural sounding Format When playing. So my questions are: 1. Do I Dream? Is this possible? Can someone comfirm/disproof this? 2. What is the General difference of the two Formats? And can this impact in any way the upsampling/digital-analog-conversation? 3. Maybe it's Not a General question of upsampling/format but a Special way my Dac (T&A Dac8Dsd) is handling the different file types? Any comments are welcome!
  8. Yes, they do sound different! In my system (!) XLR is the winner: more Space and Separation between Instruments. The unbalanced rca Output has a more Compact and somekind washed. For little $£¥€ every Dac8 owner can Check this out with XLR 2 RCA Adapters. Sound difference is Not small. So give it a try!
  9. That's true! The dac8dsd is very sensitive regarding power chords. Best results so far I got with the wireworld powerchord line. The soundstage is getting bigger and the Separationen between Instruments is better. Also footers do make a difference. Best in my system are Cardas small myrtle Wood Blocks. Yes, just simple wood! It's fun to try out different tweaks with this wonderfull Dac, because it reacts so audible.
  10. I do not agree with that statement! The T+A is outstanding for it's price Point in PCM Mode when used in the right way! The digital XLR Input (Aes) sounds a lot better than Spdif chinch! Not many reviews care about that! With a relative cheap XLR-digital interconnect (Mogami, Sommer binary cable etc.) for around 50€ you get a very very good PCM Sound with crazy dynamics. The XLR output is also supirior to the chinch outs. Wider soundstage, better separation of instruments etc. All you need is a cd transport with AES/EBU XLR output. This is the Studio standart for many year. Look at cheap Second Hand studio stuff on eBay. I use an Alesis Masterlink ( 370€ Second Hand). Sounds very good.
  11. Dsd512 Storage: Around ~1Gb for one Song depending on the length of the Music. So 100 Songs ~ 100 Gb : that's ok for me. I get an USB Stick with 128Gb for 23€ wich Sound better than a USB cable attached storage by the way and can hold over 100 Songs.
  12. It sounds so gooooooood! An old Laptop and foobar2k is all you need beside a 512dsd dac. I prefer a t&a dac8dsd . Shure hq player with Roon is much more comfortable, but for way more €$£¥ . So this is a good start to explore 512dsd wich is stunning.
  13. Maybe. But that's not the Point. Does SoX's functionality include upsampling to dsd512?
