  1. I asked this question about orientation and received this schematic. The cap end was to be towards the streamer.
  2. I believe that files streamed from storage have an advantage because they are loaded to and played from the SSD. Tidal is not.
  3. Couldn't say but thought it was worth investigating. Hans Beekhuyzen reviewed one. He found it be transparent to the signal and that if you didn't have any issues it would do no harm. It is early days for me but at this point I am noticing benefits from its inclusion. By necessity I use Ethernet over power in my network and I live if a block of flats so have neighbours on all sides. I imagine I must have some noise issues.
  4. Just yesterday I received an Alldaq USB isolator. It has been connected and running between my N100h and Auralic Vega for about 10 hours now. Gave it a brief listen earlier and it sounds very promising. Will get round to proper listening at the weekend. Should have about 40-50 hours on it by then.
  5. Thanks. It just wasn't expected. I don't recall any others mentioning an increase in volume.
  6. Currently my Aurender N100h is connected to my Auralic Vega dac in the following manner. Aurender - VBus2 - USB cable - W4S Recovery powered by Ifi 9v - solid coupler - dac. I thought it would be interesting to try powering the Recovery with batteries as others have done and got a cheap 6*AA battery clip with 2.1mm DC plug. In preparation I had fully charged 6 Eneloop batteries. After a short listen to my system with the Ifi psu in place I did a quick power down and changed over to the battery. I was pleasantly surprised. The sound grew in size, was more open, detailed, dynamic, highs and lows were improved. But what really surprised me was that the sound seemed to increase in volume by what I would estimate was by about two notches on the volume control of my amplifier. Why would the volume increase? I changed nothing other than the battery. Anyone any ideas?
  7. Whilst waiting on the arrival of an Alldaq isolator recent posts have made me think that putting it after my W4S RUR might bring more benefit than before it. So my line up would be N100h/ RUR/ solid adapter/ Alldaq/ VBus2/ solid adapter/ DAC. Any one tried this with an Intona?
  8. Thanks. I couldn't find that on their website. Others who have had issues with them might have connected them wrongly.
  9. I have had a limited experience of the Etalon and it is directional and has a marked input and output. Like yourself I thought it expensive and have started to investigate the EMO EN-70HD which you favour. Now I am wondering if the EN-70HD is directional. I refer to page 16 of this document/ 11 Schematic Diagram. http://www.emosystems.de/wp-content/uploads/Datasheet_EN-70-V40.pdf Could it make a difference to the sound if the data stream passes through the suppressor first or the transformer? Have you tried it in both directions? Thanks
  10. The Recovery does need the 5v on its input. I will look into lifting the ground. Thanks
  11. The Recovery can be used with a 3 wire USB cable between it and an appropriate DAC. However I use a VBUS2 to the same effect. Can't speak for lifting the ground beyond the VBUS2.
  12. A friend of mine uses Monkeymote on his android device to control Foobar. Seems to work very well for him. https://www.monkeymote.com
  13. I'm sure others may find that of interest. Cheers
  14. I'm not sure. I was advised to back up my library prior to upgrade but I wasn't actually using the onboard 2Tb storage.
  15. Do you know that the N100h can now be bought with a 4tb HDD. Or if you have one with a 2tb HDD there is a dealer installable 4tb upgrade pack.
