  1. I want to echo Mike's sentiments about how responsive Sonore and Jesus have been to me as well. I received a new 2.9 card and while it took a couple of boots, it is now operating wonderfully. Just needed to download Squeezelite for my LMS environment. I listened at length yesterday with no pauses and I think I'm now understanding the sonic improvements. Today, I'll definitely spend more time enjoying my ultraRendu!
  2. I had updated my ultraRendu to 2.9 some time ago and had variable results. First was ok. Then updated to a newer version and had pauses in outputs. Returned to using my 2.8 card. Been a long time with a long list of posts so I thought I'd try again. 2.9 booted fine and ran the update again. Rebooted as recommended. Won't come up at all. Powered cycled a couple of times and still won't register on Sonicorbiter. Here's the update results:
  3. I still have my 2.8 card! I'll take new updates so long as I can roll back given the myriad variations in music server, endpoint and DAC tech. I think Jesus and team do a great job given the complexity.
  4. Updated to new 2.9 kernel on ultraRendu running Squeezelite from a LMS server feeding an Audio Research DAC8 with updated USB board. Everything works peachy keen. And sounds great. :)
  5. Mine did ultimately fail but I've enjoyed a great ride for about six years between it and the original! Where else do you find such a clever solution using low impedance ultra caps? No sour grapes here.
  6. Just responded to the contact link on your website. Not sure I'm up to spending $1000+ on a new replacement for my ultraRendu. Thanks.
  7. Perhaps mine is the next one to go. It will power up green for about twenty seconds then turn red. Output measures 7V as it should then goes to zero. Does that indicate irreparable failure? Thanks!
  8. Thank you kindly! The release details confused some as to exactly what deleting LMS meant. I've always run LMS on a capable box remote from the listening area and continue to find my ultraRendu a wonderfully transparent endpoint.
  9. Presumably, for those who run LMS on a separate server Squeezelite will continue to function the same as player only.
  10. As long as it does the job, I see no reason to upgrade. I have a newer 718+ with 8 GB of memory. It is only a two drive model and I run mine RAID 1 with a pair of 2 TB drives. Your array is 12 GB, but now you could simply buy a pair of them in a two drive cabinet. the 718+ also has easy access to the drives from the front for replacing or simply blowing dust out of the cabinet. And uses a quad core Celeron processor vs the Atom in yours. I boosted the memory which provides 6 GB of cache for essentially memory output. BTW, I enjoy a pair of U-1PX (now called U-790). :)
  11. It is also available on a range of Synology NAS units. Indeed, I can have my 718+ up for months on end without need for updates or rebooting. Housed centrally allows me to drive multiple players around the house. Michael Berger has now released 8.0 which is great for those who use Tidal or Qobuz. It can optionally place "favorites" in your regular album or new music lists.
  12. I ran the update a second time to illustrate the ability to run an update. Those particular messages were captured on the subsequent run after the initial update had been completed. Yet another confusing aspect. Is it just me or did the USB drive option exist in 2.7? https://www.smallgreencomputer.com/blogs/news/announcing-the-release-of-sonicorbiter-version-2-8
  13. You certainly get that impression from the update page. Along with happy update messages. And in the apps section, includes the USB CD drive option which is a 2.8 feature. It would seem that it is the notification section that is not properly reporting the change.
