  1. do you have connected a external device to the HAP-S1 ? do you us the HAP-S1 as amp or just like source? If you use like a source check your RCA Cables. If you have connected a external devices like a HDD or USB CD ROM or USB HUB, disconnect and verify if the noise is ceased.
  2. Hi I'm curios about this theme, some time ago I read an Article from Enjoythemusic.com, I don't know if some of you mentioned it here, sorry but I haven't read all the treat, on this article from Enjoythemusic.com, they say that the theory of the loss less algorithm has the same information than uncompressed files, and its true, but they realise something cause the contrary results in many cases, at the moment to decompress the FLAC and comparing to a WAV as original or as a reference file, the difference is happen on the Metadata, (lyrics, folder picture, archive name, title name, artist name, year, the music genere etc) if the metadata is not recorded or codified in the right way as mentioned on the principle of functioning of the loss less algorithm and the right structure of the flac archive, you won't have the same information at the moment to decode or uncompress the file, but if you make the right metadata on the archive you will get the real loss less information and the same vs wav archive as a reference. The main problems in metadata is the picture that is included on the archive, the article is very interesting, sorry if you had already aforementioned here, if not, check and you'll find a very interesting things about this theme! 3. Can you share the link of this information? Regards!
  4. That's good news legaltrouble, And what about the compatibility to the multiple DACs are in the market, or ti works like Mac s? I refer to this because windows needs the USB drivers to each DAC, I guess the Sony use kind of Android OS? Regards.
  5. And it would be great if the HAP-1 o S1, dont do anything to the digital audio data out to the Ext USB, like apply some algorithm or upsampling,in order to make it worthwhile to connect an external Ladder DAC with No Oversampling. The better would be direct data from the HDD to the internal BUS and then to the Ext USB.
  6. Thanks for your valuable response, I would like to connect a R-2R Ladder DAC to HAP-S1, It would be wonderful. Another question arises me, If you connect the HUB with other devices including the DAC, do you know if this affect the bitperfect transfer from the source to the DAC, I mean possible errors or other artifacts?
  7. I understood on the : Adds support for the USB digital output function(USB hub support for connecting each of one HDDdrive, one CD drive, and one USB DAC) Is just possible to connect a USB HUB to connect a HDDdrive and CD drive at the same Ext USB port, but not possible to connect at the same time on the HUB USB DAC? or Just connect one device on the Ext USB port? Just one HDD drive or one CD drive, or one DAC? Does anyone can clarify my doubt? Hope to explained well! regards.
  8. Hi computer audiophile friends, I'm a happy owner of Sony HAP-S1. And today I realized a notification of firmware upgrade v0018033R, and it seems to have a great features, like use as music server source audio streaming, so you can listing the music from this device in other network devices, and now you can use de USB Ext to connect a external DAC, yes external dac, maybe you can connect a R-2R Ladder DAC to this thing, great I have configured this device in spanish, so I add some pictures about this new features, I wold like to investigate more about some specs with this new features!
