  1. Never argue with the demented, they've got all day and nothing better to do. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  2. Parochialism, but yeah. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  3. I'm only buying new recordings in the most current format. Even the best remasters are limited by the source tape. That, and how many copies of The White Album does one need? Remastering is a lazy producer's way to sell product without giving new performers a chance. The real gems are hidden in smaller labels like BIS, Opus 3 and your own local recording studio. http://whalingcitysound.com/default.asp Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  4. Same. Two years supporting a trauma center was enough. I didn't even work in a major city. Too many on forums like these elevate their irritations and annoyances to the level of genuine emergencies. That defines decadence. Enjoy quiet, when you may. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  5. That might also be attributed to beaming, an indication of a high crossover point to the tweeter. http://greenboy.us/fEARful/frequencytables.htm Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  6. I too own the NAD M51, and agree with your assessment. I like the ProAc family, they're sensibly built and have a soft dome tweeter with polite behavior at the extremes. I would suggest an audition of the current KEF line if you can secure a home demo. Sent from my HP 10 G2 Tablet using Tapatalk
  7. Why are so many Conservatives long winded? It's not as if you haven't had your say, for more than a MONTH. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  8. It's a very capable sub, I use something even less capable from Monoprice. When I got the phase relationship right, I could turn down the main amp some. It was most noticeable in midbass (low end of make voice, bottom string of guitar), not so much in the low bass. That came as a surprise. Sent from my HP 10 G2 Tablet using Tapatalk
  9. The Ragnarock can manage. It's stable enough to drive Magnepan .7 at 4 ohm and the sensitivity if a screen door. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  10. As has been mentioned earlier, proper sub integration makes a surprising difference. In most rooms, you're actively cancelling important information with bass material that's out of phase with your main speakers. If you must make an equipment change, consider the Benchmark products. They're derived from studio use and add very little to the signal. I'm a fan of analog volume control, too. https://benchmarkmedia.com/products/benchmark-dac1-digital-to-analog Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  11. Using a reference to the subscription model rolled out by Bungie with the Destiny video game, I would be averse to paying for source code that had features locked away. https://www.bungie.net/ko/ Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  12. As ESLdude intimated, if you can run the LS50 high pass above 100 hz, they'll be liberated from large excursion demands. Similar approaches have good results have been documented with MMG planars. It's a challenge for a small driver to manage so much. If you like the tonal balance of these, may I suggest you consider a competent sub with the DSPeaker bass management offerings? I tried one on a whim and the results are positive. There's a lot to love about the LS50 approach that may not be easily found, elsewhere. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  13. Handle tubes when they're room temperature, with the power off. I use a cotton hand towel. I heard that touching tubes, directly, may lead to premature failure but have never tested this. Still, it seems like a simple precaution. Tubes can be hot enough to burn the unwary... Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  14. Is there a bar graph showing how long it takes a thread about music to be derailed? Why are we surprised when The Usual suspects dominate the conversation? Geeks were ever thus. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  15. Maybe, just maybe it's because people who have an interest in music don't come here to have the latest half-baked tropes trotted out at every turn. Those of us that read this forum more often have been exposed to the same glurge have a reduced tolerance for it. http://www.politirant.com Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
