  1. I see, a bit like the relationship between Connecticut and West Virginia ;) But if Belgium people marry pieces of margarine, then maybe he has a point! In West Virginia however, they only marry margarine to whom they are related. Just what the heck is going on in Europe these days? I have to get out of the house more.
  2. I'm genuinely curious why "I may have to type english with a Flemish accent" is so offensive? Is there some cultural backstory to this of which I'm unaware, like the great accent wars of 1684? Are Flemish people particularly sensitive to comments about their accent? I can imagine an entire Monty Python skit about typing with a Flemish (or any other) accent!
  3. Having owned a DirectStream I can say it's very very revealing which has its pros and cons, depending upon the recording.
  4. Will be interesting to see how/if Aurender highlights Roon integration at the show. I speculate the Aurender Roon update was timed for Axpona exposure.
  5. Wow, you aren't messing around! Yes, the DirectStream is excellent and $1799 is an amazing deal for the $6000 DAC. I assume Aurender is busy with Axpona.
  6. Oh my, an international incident! That made me go to Google translate: "Wellicht moet ik Engels met een Vlaams accent typen" means "I may have to type in english with a Flemish accent". Is this the part where The Netherlands invades Belgium?
  7. This reminds me of the archetypical story of a man driving his family somewhere, and even though they're assuredly lost, refusing to ask for directions, insisting that he knows where they are. Aurender has amazing tech support. Simply ask them if it's possible to remove the existing hard drive, and install it on the new Aurender. And if so, how to do it. You'll know the whole scoop in less than 24 hours. Eric Shim himself is likely to respond. Or, yes, one can continue to drive aimlessly around in the woods ;)
  8. Best to ask Aurender directly, I'm sure they know.
  9. I do not. I only know that a wired connection for the initial big move is best. You can name the 10 folders like this (just an example): Blues Jazz Rock [World] They will appear in alphabetical order. Because of the brackets, [World] be displayed ahead of the other three. Only the first 10 will show up on the Conductor menu bar.
  10. Wired is best for the initial big move, with the Aurender HD mounted on the desktop. Conductor sounds great, but this file adding bit is dated for sure. It's things like this that make Roon a welcomed option. I gave up on sync software. The Aurender doesn't seem to work well with that sort of thing. But once the initial big move is done, then small changes are easy - once again, manually. Do you know about the first 10 folders in "Music1" thing? That they show up in alphabetical order on the upper bar in Conductor? You can use brackets to move folders to the front of the line. You can use the first 10 folders to organize by genre, or whatever you wish.
  11. I've tried USB drive, connecting an external HD to the Aurender, as well as using ChronoSync for incremental additions. The only thing I've found to reliably and quickly work is manually transferring files over the network to the mounted Aurender HD on my Mac desktop. Incremental backups with Chronosync are spotty, and eventually entered into some sort of permissions purgatory. I'm resigned to this just being how it is, with manual transfers being best. Not ideal to say the least.
  12. I asked Eric Shim about HQPlayer implementation and he said he's going to ask for it to be done. Fingers crossed.
  13. Not without Aurender adding the "NAA" (Network Audio Adapter). Which is HQP's version of Roon's RAAT. It's no big deal for a company to add NAA, they just need the will to do so. Even iFi has NAA on their $400 ZenStream. With NAA, HQP works in the background as Roon's sound engine and all is available over the network. I can also understand a company shying away from HQPlayer's NAA because of how convoluted HQP's GUI is.
  14. Yes, HQPlayer has a steep initial learning curve. But once you figure out it's byzantine GUI, it's actually quite easy to use with Roon. Once setup, there's nothing else to do but launch HQP along with Roon, the rest is automatic. From there one can easily tweak HQPlayer's settings for a variety of music. I have 3 settings I prefer, and can quickly change them. But it did take some dedication to learn HQP's language.
  15. Have you tried HQPlayer as Roon's sound engine?
