Will you go back to the iMac and wifi? I'm asking because I've been thinking about going from my present NAS>Win 7 laptop with Roon Core>iFi3.0-iFiDAC2 config. I was considering the SGC sonicTransporter/microRendu. The current set up works very well. I'd keep it except that I'm moving soon and will no longer be able to run a long USB cable to the audio rack. Given your experience I may rethink the whole thing. I know dropouts can have any number of causes, some unrelated to the equipment being discussed here. But others have also mentioned dropouts. It just makes me a little leery.

I just read your post about stuttering and network disconnects. That's discouraging. My Roon trial is almost up as well. I'm definitely going to keep it. I hope you get a resolution soon.

I think I already know the answer but I'll ask anyway: Is the sonicTransporter able to run HQ Player? It doesn't seem as though it has the required CPU to do it without issues. It's not a deal breaker for me anyway. It looks like the sonicTransporter and the microRendu are the components I need. I have an iPad Air I'll use for Roon Remote. Simple, clean and affordable.
