  1. Well let's hope that a $7,000 piece of gear sounds better than a $3,500 piece of gear. I sure hope a Corvette is faster than a Civic SI (stock vs stock, I know built Civics can get up and move).
  2. Well, I ordered the Hegel today (I got a good deal on a new unit, so why not I told myself), so I shall see who wins the DAC battle.
  3. I fully understand "if you can't listen to it first, don't buy it" and I have listened to the Hegel, and I really liked it. That was in their room, with their speakers and with their electronics though. "Why combine a BPD, network player, amp, etc.?" Because it is very cost effective. I'm not looking for a DAC right now. I am happy with the one in the Oppo. I am looking for an intergrated amplifier. I can only afford the Hegel if I sell the Oppo piece. I just want to make sure I am getting a DAC in the Hegel that is on par or better than the Oppo.
  4. I have upgradeitis (it's a real syndrome, I've checked) and want a new intergrated amp. I currently have the Oppo which I primarily, 90%, use to stream Tidal. If I were to sell the Oppo I could afford the Hegel, which I really want. The question is the Hegel DAC at least as good as the Oppo? My thinking is that Hegel has the better DAC. I read the Stereophile review of the Hegel and It stated that you would have to pay at least the cost of the Hegel to get a better DAC. So I did some math real quick and the Oppo is only $1300 vs the Hegel @ $3500, so I think in their opinion the Hegel would have the better DAC (because of math and stuff). What say ye?
