I'm not a complete beginner but certainly no expert with the Pi, Python or Linux and I've been struggling to get my I2C LCD to show any information at all. If someone could point me to a step-by-step guide to getting it working, I'd be very grateful. I'd also like some pointers to using a rotary encoder for the volume control. My LCD is a generic 5 button, 'Adafruit' clone and the encoder is a 5 pin version which has a push button function also.
