  1. Just going to add an observation of mine. Ever since I've had Sonic orbiter 2.9 it's been very slow switching on and rebooting. When rebooting it reaches one it'll hang there for ages, sometimes so long it times out. Sometimes it will come back sometimes not. But I found something you could try that works sometimes. Switch off or disconnect your DAC and then reboot or switch on and see how quickly it connects. If it connects without your DAC switched on then try resetting your DAC to factory settings and then put your usual settings back in. I found doing this doesn’t stop disconnections or booting up problems completely, but reduce them a lot. Personally, I think I can tell if I’m going to get a disconnection problem when listening to music as the sound isn’t quite right. So usually before I start listening, I will reboot the Rendu until my DAC shows proper connection in the Rendu web settings after a reboot, that usually guarantees good connection for me.
  2. Thanks for your reply and advice. will do, it’s a “curious cables evolved” usb cable, very well constructed. It may take a while to have a proper check because I need to get a friend to pop in and assist as I’m disabled. But will do. I’ve just ordered a new power supply for the OpticalRendu also.
  3. Hi, I have a T+A DAC200 connected to an OpticalRendu, and have been having dropout issues when using Roon. The DAC200 will randomly disconnect from OpticalRendu and stop the music playback. If I restart OpticalRendu it usually hangs after the sonicorbiter countdown reaches 1 constantly showing a red light, and on less occasions eventually goes green about a minute later, but the DAC200 often still won’t show up in sonicorbiter web settings. I’ve noticed when I get dropouts and the DAC200 disconnects, the OpticalRendu gets hotter than normal. now the thing is, I’ve read everything above and although I’m usually very technically minded, have a physics degree… I am having a few health issues at the moment, hindering my metabolism somewhat and have no idea if any of the information above would be the reason for my issues. can someone clarify for me if any of the above is applicable to my particular set up and problem please? thank you
  4. Hi, can anyone help me please. After well over a year of perfect playback and connection to my DAC, my OpticalRendu suddenly started losing connection to my DAC for some reason. so I’ve bought a new v2.8 SD card to see if that will calm things down a bit. However one of the APPs, squeezelight, says it is uninstalled. (Pictures enclosed) If I try to delete it it just stays the same and I can’t reinstall it because it’s not in the list of uninstalled apps. also when I restart to see if that will make any difference the OpticalRendu just stays red and eventually switches off. anyone can help please?
  5. Hi audiobomber, Thank you very much for your advice. I went ahead and ordered one pair of IsoAcoustics Aperta 155’s, and set them 4°. Tried them without tilt to begin with and the sound was so much tighter and so much more revealed, amazing. After tilting the tweeters directly towards my ears the soundstage sprung to life. It really is surprising how much more you can get out of a speaker, even when the stands were already manufactured only for those speakers. Very very happy, thanks for the advice.
  6. Hi audiobomber, thanks for your reply. Yeah they look perfect I’ll see if I can find any in the UK, cheers mate Thanks davide256 Also
  7. thanks Abtr yeah I’ve done all the calculations, trigonometry... to work out the angle required and how much to raise the front of the speaker to reach my listening position. It’s not too much. Just was hoping for a bit of experience if anyone has tilted speakers bfore and see if anyone knows if it ruins the sound stage... because of my disability, doing anything like this isn’t something I can fiddle about with, I have to organise someone to do it and then have to wait until they’re available again to put it back if I find out it’s terrible. So trying to get as much information as I can before I think about trying it would help, and save me the annoyance of having to live with tilted speakers that may sound terrible until I can get someone to put them back again. Although after further research I have found a speaker, the JBL L100, that has titled stands directing sound to the listening position, so can’t be that bad. anyway thanks mate
  8. Hi, so I’m looking for a quick bit of advice. I’ve got a pair of B&W PM1 Speakers on stands, and I’ve got them on the spikes. i’m absolutely fine with setting them up normally, The only problem is i’m in a wheelchair which is higher than a normal seated position So the Tweeter lines up somewhere around my chest. so I’ve measured everything and the centre of the tweeter is 29 cm lower than my ear. Now obviously that’s going to be a rather thick concrete plinth or something I’m going to have to get. But I would just like to ask some advice if it’s better to get a thick concrete plinth to raise the speaker? or to somehow tilt angle them so they’re pointing slightly upwards towards my ear position? thanks for any suggestions
  9. Hi, is there a list somewhere of DAC’s that are now supported with Native DSD streaming on sonicorbiter 2.8 please?
  10. Hi, can anyone enlighten me on why in my DAC diagnostics it says “Playback channels: Mono“, Why does it not state stereo? I have no idea 🙂 110.pdf
  11. The original Mytek Brooklyn DAC. like I said in version 2.7 often in DAC diagnostics the readings would be not quite correct and randomly different each Time I checked, and I’d have to restart two times at least to get it to connect properly. But since version 2.8 the readings in DAC diagnostic have been perfect every single time, couldn’t be happier 🙂
  12. Hi, I had the exact same Problem. Using Roon it would suddenly lose connection to OpticalRendu, but when checking DAC diagnostics in sonicorbiter my DAC had disappeared. I managed to make things a lot more stable by purchasing bluejeans Ethernet cables, which when you see them you can tell are very well made. Apparently a lot of ethernet cables are made in such a mass that often connection is not that good. However to put your mind at rest, since getting sonicorbiter 2.8 I have had perfect connection to my DAC every time. In 2.7 my DAC would be shown in DAC diagnostic but would have different readings randomly, and I’d have to restart the opticalrendu several times to get it to connect properly. But since version 2.8 my DAC has connected perfectly every single time. So if I was you definitely upgrade to version 2.8
  13. Black box😎 actually just ship them inside an Opticalrendu, That should protect them 😉
  14. Just Got my replacement v2.8 SD card this morning And all is good thanks vortecjr done the software update twice and everything works. And so far I’ve noticed that my Brooklyn DAC has connected perfectly every time I do a reboot, and Shown up in DAC diagnostics perfectly also. previously in DAC diagnostics Version 2.7, My Brooklyn DAC Was a bit hit and miss, But with version 2.8 every detail is correct every time I reboot. One difference I’ve noticed is when rebooting the opticalrendu It takes a little bit longer to restart. after the countdown It takes another 5 or 10 seconds to reappear. But when it does everything is great. Thanks
