  1. Hi Arleigh, I too have been trying to find a vinyl ripping solution. I currently use a NAD PP3i in line level mode fed by a (much) better Audiolab phono stage. The problem I (and many others based on a trawl of the interweb) have is that the USB outputs of many devices is too high. As a result I have to "record" with the levels in Audacity set to 0.07 (nought point nought seven - not a mis-type). This is apparently because in the transition from XP to W7, Microsoft removed the line level option. A common work-around (open the recording device panel, change bit/sample rate and then leave the panel open before launching the ripping software) does not work on my PC. Do/did you have this problem and, if so, did you fix it? I could place an attenuator between the phono stage line output and the USB interface line input but that would rather miss the point. Also suspect that the attenuator would be turned down low into the typically non-linear domain, losing fidelity.
