  1. I had the same issue with iLk license manager. Is anyone else using either a Weiss DAC2 or Minerva? My firewire drivers don't work now and the OS can't see the DAC. I've uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. I've emailed Weiss and I'm waiting to hear back.
  2. I have a Macmini in my main system but an ATV1 in my second system. It's surprisingly good in that system, connected via USB to a DacMagic. I use it for both music stored on the 160GB drive, and streaming from my lappie via AirFoil, as well as for watching movies. I can't see any reason to upgrade as it resolves to the limit of my system (ATV1/DacMagic/Sugden A25/ADAM HM2)
  3. Next step... a SSD drive and 8GB RAM for the mini.
  4. elcorso, I had the same Bluetooth issues with 10.7 - it just couldn't see my trackpad. I fixed it by removing the batteries from the trackpad and then re-powering it, suddenly the Mac mini could see it again.
  5. Well I upgraded my silver disc spinner, and bought a S/H CEC belt drive TL-51X. As is, it was a strange mix of good and bad, clearly it had potential and actually got the top end 'correct' but had no bass and poor timing, it just wasn't musical and certainly not better than my Mac mini. I spent some more money getting a clock update and some lampizator type mods for it. It isn't the optimal solution as the transport and Weiss clocks are peers, whereas the Mac mini is slaved to the clock in the Weiss. Despite this, the CEC is now very good, not as good as my analog system, but then I'm running a Sound Smith Strain Gauge so that isn't surprising, but very listenable. It is now clearly superior to the Mac mini, in a way this is good news as there's room for improvement with Amarra and Fidelia:)
  6. well they may be of some use on an iMac, but of little use on a Mac mini setup as a music server. We are a tiny tiny section of users though. Laptop sales have long overtaken desktop sales so the pendulum has swung to mobile computing:(
  7. I think that LIon is transitioning to something approximating iOS in usability terms. Before long, Macs will be 'instant on' like iPads are now, resume' is part of that transition. Reversing the scrolling makes sense if, during the life of Lion, Apple release laptops with touch screens, so don't be surprised to see that too.
  8. I've traced my problem with no sound under 10.7. The Weiss drivers that worked with 10.6.x just aren't compatible with OSX 10.7. There's a new driver downloadable from here: http://www.weiss.ch/downloads/firewire/osx/WeissFirewire.dmg
  9. Incidentally I don't know if anyone has noticed but I've used the iTunes screen saver on my Mac mini, the one that displayed album covers. These are now playable from the screensaver screen - a cool feature, or it would be if I had any sound!
  10. I installed Lion on my Mac mini Core duo2 and have 2 problems: the trackpad that was running under 10.6.x is no longer recognised and isn't seen by Lion if I try to reconnect it. The other problem is more serious, I have no sound! Sytem Information sees no sound chip, AudioMIDI is completely empty:( Amarra mini plug-in was crashing on load but this has resolved by switching iTunes to 32 bits. Any ideas about the sound?
  11. the menu command should just open the background manager without executing the command. As it is, it starts converting for instance 24/192 flac into 14/44, not really what I want!
  12. Am I missing something here? I'm running Amarra mini 2.2 (4287) and want to convert a flac folder of 24/96k files to AIFF. When I use the File -> convert folder command, It defaults to 44.1k bit conversion unless I then open the background manager and manually change it to 96k. Is there a way of automatically converting at the same original bit rate?
  13. How are you guys successfully activating Amarra 2.2? It's 3 days now since I emailed Sonicstudio but I've had no reply at all:( Perhaps there's something simple I've missed, where did you get your serial number from for activation?
  14. I've been a patient defender of Amarra mini over the last few years despite the inconveniences. I was an early adopter and managed the incovenience of the iLok blocking a USB port and transferring it from my Mac mini to my laptop. I've negotiated the licence files, updating them everytime I've changed a hard drive or a laptop. I've even defended the price of Amarra mini over products like Decibel and Fidelia. I've waited patiently for this upgrade when Fidelia seemed a fair way ahead sonically as I was sure that Sonicstudio would trump it with the 2.2 release. Now I find that the licence conditions have changed and I'll have to deactivate and reactivate every time I move from my laptop to my Mac mini (frequently). It's academic anyway as Amarra mini asked me for a serial number to re-reactivate the product, I don't have one - it probably came with the original documentation and iLok but I was required to return that when I went to software activation. Fidelia looks so simple in comparison. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
