  1. so i am planning on getting one of these with an internal SSD in it. i have one question for you guys that have it... is it possible to download music from my mac directly to the aries mini? i just don't want to have the music stored in my mac. i saw on auralic support page they simply state to drag music to the folder on the shared network that shows up in the mac but i want to know if for example i buy a cd from HDtracks, can i get it to download directly to the aries mini with SSD?
  2. I cant see the sonus faber 1.5s being any bad as an introduction to this hobby. Im not really trying to find the "perfect" setup when i still dont know much about this hobby! Im learning along and will audition speakers down the road... But at the end of it all, im just more interested in sitting down, kicking back and just listening to some good ol' tunes!! Im 25 years old and i have a LONG way to go to find the "truth" in this hobby. For now, i just want to get my setup going, and enjoy the music.
  3. The stars are big and bright! *clap clap clap* deep in the heart of Texas!!! Sorry... Couldn't help it! Houston Texas sir!
  4. I went to best buy and heard the Sonus faber 2.0 along with some bower & wilkins, definitive technology and martin Logans. All bookshelf speakers. The SF Veener blew them all out of the water, they all ranged from $999 to $1800, the SF Venner 2.0 being the most expensive. The SF 2.0 had the best soundstage and detail and just sounded balanced overall. As much as i loved them, unfortunately im not getting those. I find them a bit too "big" for my small room and they would take up space for other things im having in my room. To my luck, best buy also carries the Sonus Faber veener 1.5 for $1,199 witch have great reviews. So the 1.5s along with the dedicated sonus faber stands im looking at around $1,600. Im just going to take the plunge on those. Im fairly new to this hobby and im just wishing to enjoy some great music. I'll look for alternatives, auditions more speakers down the road, get a better understanding of this hobby as i go along. For now and an introduction to this hobby, this veener 1.5s will do the trick! Thanks everyone for the great ideas of speakers i hope to hear one of these days!
  5. Im going today to hear the Sonus Faber veener 2.0 at my local best buy. I like that they are front ported and i can save a tad of spacr by placing them a little closer to the wall. Thanks for the great ideas everyone!
  6. I actually have the Audioengine a5+ in my living room for watching movies and what not, casual music listening. I do like them however im looking for a "better" speaker. I will visit my local audio stores and see what they have for auditions!
  7. Im just really looking for something very music since its whats it going to be used for, pure music. Im planning on having an aries mini with SSD into a schiit Yggy into my yamaha AS500 integrated amp.
  8. Great idea! I remember looking at the PSBs long time ago... Might give them another look. I was considering the Audioengine HD6s but id rather use my amp I already have. Since its a work in progress, my source is going to be a Auralic aries mini with SSD into a Yggy into a yamaha AS-500
  9. So im looking to buy some NEW bookshelf speakers for my audio dedicated room... Its a small room of about 8'x8'... Or a tad bigger... But overall small. Im looking for some recommendations on some speakers... I already did some extensive research and came down to some choices but would like some ideas or alternatives to speakers im not aware about. I mostly listen to rock music. Mostly classic rock and some new alternative, hard rock, rock blues, etc. But overall classic rock. Im not looking to shake the windows or the whole house, i want something with very good soundstage, mid range and a good amount of bass. So far what i have in mind are the ascend acoustics sierra-2 or harbeths P3ESR, i was also contemplating the KEF LS50. I know the P3ESR are amazing at soundstage but im afraid they may be lacking bass for the music i listen to... Any takes on what speakers are a good choice? My maximum budget to spend would be no more than $2,300... Thanks in advance!
  10. I love the fact that you can install a SSD drive in it and store music on it... Thats why i wanted the Mini, to store music and feed a yggy... Hmmm this is really interesting...
  11. This is really catching my eyes... Mostly since i was thinking of taking the route of buying a aries mini to feed a Schiit yggy... Hmmm decisions... Decisions...
  12. Im fairly new to this hobby and im looking at the schiit yggy as many other DACs and this thread has a lot of great information.... Just out of curiosity. Whats your other DAC your comparing the yggy to Mani?
  13. From the look of it the Auralic mini seems to be catching my attention the most at this time... I would go a mac mini direction but id like to also use my mac for other non audio related things and the mac mini is a stationary thing as opposed to a macbook air is portable. I like the fact that you can install a HD directly on it and save the music there... Let me look into the Aurender you speak about.. Thanks!!
