  1. This is a very interesting topic. I personally am thinking in connecting my mac mini via time capsule wiresly. The benefits, on my case, is that I can put the TC and the "other HDDS connected to it via USB" in another place since the rack where my Mac mini and DACs are are completelly crowded. They would be 2 meters apart from each other and I intend to use Pure Music in memory play mode. Did any one of you try this solution and compared to a wired HDD? Cheers, Edu
  2. Carlo, Thank you very much for the detailed information. This is why this forum is so interesting! Congratulations for the your system too! So far, I am also liking very much the BADA, though I had not had the chance to do a comparison like you did! Warm regards from Brazil Edu
  3. Thanks again for helping Rob. I am a newbie in Mac as I said and have not realized that was a file that explains the ins and outs of PM. The answer to my problem was on the documentation! I have not had time to give it a critical listening but will do that shortly! Regards, Eduardo
  4. Rob, Tks a lot for helping! Bingo! It was indeed the multi channel configuration. Regards, Eduardo
  5. Tks everyone for the reply. I checked DAC volume and it is OK. I checked the gain volume at PM and it was at -6db. Changed it to 0DB, still no sound. I tried everything I could. I tried seting on system preference the output and input as the optical connection. I set it up as the hiFace connection too. No sound. Tried to configure pure music in everyway possible, still no sound. Just Itunes, I got sound correctly via hiFace. I have not tried to plug in the optical cable to the DAC but will try it later. Also, I can get sound geting out via hiFace on videos (youtube), etc but with a 2-3 sec gap (out of sync). I am almost giving up in buying PM and am considering another program instead of itunes (have APE and FLAC and I would have to convert it to AIFF). Well, if any one has a clue on what could be wrong, I appreciate
  6. Hello Eloise, tks for helping. Yes, i have music straight from itunes. I downloaded the new pure music version and still nothing. I can see the dac showing the right sampling, the pure music bar dancing showing the db level but no sound. Very weird. Pure music was one of the reasons I decided to buy my mac mini but it is causing me some troubles to set it up. Any further ideas? tks Edu
  7. Hello David, Thanks for replying. I think I did that but will double check. I purchased my Mac mini, which is my first Apple, less than a week so I am still finding my way on the way Apple does things. ;-) As soon as I reach home I will check that. What makes me get puzzled is the fact that the DAC is able to display the right sampling rate which means, some how, signal is reaching the DAC.
  8. Guys, Recently I purchased a Mac mini. I downloaded Puremusic to work together with Itnues. I connected hiFace to my DAC (Berkeley Alpha) which is then connected via XLR to my MBL Integrated Amplifier. When I play musics via Puremusic, Alpha DAC shows the correct sample rate. I do not know why, there is no music. I tried the obvious things, like checking cables, etc, and everything seems to be all right. Any clue what can be wrong? Cheers, Edu
  9. Thanks again for your impressions. This is what moves CA. People dedicating time and effort to give unbiased impressions. DAC8 should be a very nice DAC too. Look fwd to learn how the the AR DAC compares to AA and Berkeley DACs. Cheers, Eduardo
  10. Hello Carlo, Thank you for sharing the info with the group. I am happy that you enjoyed the Berkeley Alpha DAC sound compared to AA. I did not have a chance to do what you have done and am enthusiastic that it compared well to AA DAC. PLease keel us posted on the comparison with DAC8. Regards, Eduardo
  11. Hello Carlo, Good to know you will be able to listen to the Berkeley Alpha DAC. It is indeed a very nice gear. It would be nice if you could post your impressions of it after you give it a listen. Ciao, Eduardo
  12. Tks a lot for your comments. I eventually gave up on acquiring the AA DAC due to lack of information and difficulty in listening to it. I acquired a Berkeley Alpha DAC. I am afraid I have not listened it much yet but could not be happier with it. Sound is natural, detailed, aired, richfull. Since I added a Audicence AR6-T together it is hard to say exactly who is responsible for what, but my system is in it's best shape ever. I will give it more time for burn in and will do a more critical listening to is with and without the Audience to determine the differences. So far, fully satisfied. Regards, Eduardo
  13. Thanks Eloise. Spent a decent time in the internet but I did not manage to get real information about this DAC. It is pretty expensive as we know but is it "that good"? Apparently, no one really knows! Cheers and have a nice weekend Edu
  14. There is no much news on the net about this DAC. The specs look nice but have you guys listened to this DAC? How does it compare to Berkeley and Weiss Dacs?
