Many people think that digital supply does not matter in the sound of high quality because it is just a set of numbers and whats the difference what the supply’s gonna be like, but that’s false. Let’s start from the beginning. Any kind of music vibrations are a death to a musicality. The bass is not that long, highs are not that limpid and as a result scene losing. Sound turns out flat. That is why switching power supply are not used in audio equipment. And any switch of tension in the section causes the losing of musicality. Thaat is why they don’t use SSD as a information medium. Theoretically, musicality presence can be put in a few points:
Linear supply in all of the tensions
Linear HDD supply
High-frequency oscillations protection
A minimal OS interference in the audio on the way from HDD to USB (which can’t be said about Windows)
All of that and most of everything else depends on the sound-engineer. But if everything what I just said is absent then it is just a computer, and they all sound equally bad. This one contains none of these. :-(
So, theoretically, it cannot be musical. And practically audio equipment has to be listened!!!
