  1. I have built a cas system hoping to replace my current transport - Trac vrds 10. My external dac is spectral sdr 2000 pro. In fact the transport + Spectral work very fine for me, its smooth and very dynamic. However in afraid of one day my transport dead i decide to built a backup system that could replace it. The computer using is i3 + pci card RME9632. I ripped my cds and use the RME digital out ( coxial ) to connect my spectral, the result is good but still not comparable to my current transport system, the rme sound a bit harsh and flat. I always want to know what can i do in order to give sound in the cas system like my transport or it never will ? I think the problem wouldn't be on dac ... What do u think ?
  2. Jeff thanks for input! Im now using spectral sdr 2000 pro dac ( which considered sth old), it has aes input so i want to use this as connection with my mac mini to 2000pro. Previously i own a a usb dac and some related setup like uptone regen and good usb cable but turn out it was not the sound i want. In fact i really want to know which conversation is better as far as spidf output is concerned based on above setup( usb converter or pro interface like lynx / rme) . Any analysis or data can support the saying ?? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  3. Iam now using mac mini as a player via optical out to my dac. My question is should I buy a USB converter like Alpha Usb or buy interface like Lynx aes 16e / RME firewire to connect my dac in order to get better sonic improvement ?? I know the current setup( optical out to dac ) containing much unnecessary noise / jitter and apparently not a best setup . So i hope with the aid of the said equipments i could get sth improved. 4. So what is the result ? Alpha or 2000 is better ?
  5. Dear all, Im using window pc as my audio server, and i have an external which support AES input. So im confusing which ways should i go: Lynx Aes 16e card to Dac AES or use Converter like Berkeley USB. Which one will sound better ? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  6. Anyone ? Can someone share experience and view on the sonic performance of uptone + lamp lv4 & Berkeley usb + berkeley dac 2 ?? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  7. Having use the amber with uptone regen for a while, the result is good as i nearly cant hear the difference between my ripped file and a cd playback in high end cd player, thats my purpose of using CAS - to rip CD and playback in computer hoping its quality is superior than a cd playing on CD player. Now i wonder if i change the Berkeley usb and dac2 set with my current one, what will my system improve ? Thanks all
