  1. Hi All, Curious if anyone has listened to the Volumio Primo? I’m considering ordering one now they will ship to U.S. I listened to the review by Hans Beekhuyzen which was favorable, claiming it’s the best in class (value). I really like the option of outputs, including analog and coax SPDIF. My Anthem 720 does not support usb in. Any my word on this? Thanks, Mark
  2. Cebolla, thank you for this advice. I will check the settings on the Spotty plug in for the LMS resident on my NAS against those on the LMS running on the SOSE.
  3. Hello All, I am using Squeezelite on the SOSE and would like to configure Logitech Media Server also on the SOSE (as opposed to running the LMS on my Synology NAS). The issue I am having is the Media Folder will not hold the network UNC name (\\DISKSTATION\music]Music FLAC) for the folder on my NAS. The network device name and top level folder appear to take, but then when I click Apply it resets to the local storage setting. The IP address for the SOSE is in the whitelist on the NAS security. I've seen similar issues on the forum but have not found a solution. Any suggestions welcome! Based on streaming Spotify from the SOSE LMS, I feel the sound quality is better than using the NAS server. The SOSE and NAS are separated by ethernet over power network connection. So with the good sound from Spotify streaming I'm expecting better audio from my network FLAC music as well if I can get them connected... Thanks!
  4. Hi, it seems fine. My “local files” are on my Synology NAS. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas. I’m disappointed that I’d have to abandon LMS/Squeezelite and Pandora.
  5. Hello All, I have a SOSE that I updated to revision 2.3. I am running Logitech Media Server and Squeezelite 1.8 on the SOSE. Previously I ran LMS on my Synology NAS until I started with problems and moved that function to SOSE as a diagnostic step. Using Peng and Orange Squeeze control points. The SOSE is connected using SPDIF to my Anthem MRX720. I listen to Pandora most of the time. And now whenever I start to listen I have to first restart the Squeezelite. Even when I change Pandora stations it goes dead (sound wise) but the stream continues to role on the CP, just no audio. When I restart the service it is fine. Any suggstions on why the Squeezelite is losing it's connection to the media server and what I can do about it? Thanks all! Mark
  6. Has anyone configured their SOSE with Logitech Media Server and NAS music storage? Not sure a network named resource can be used in the Settings. It looks to me like only local storage or maybe attached storage. My Synology is on the network. Thanks for any guidance. I was running the LMS on my Synology and using Squeezelite on the SOSE but the Pandora went flaky on me and I am trying to figure out why. Thanks!
  7. Hello All, I have been using SonicOrbiter/Squeelite for a few years happily. Recently the Pandora channel stopped streaming, unless I reboot the SOSE. When I do it works for one song only,. Another reboot is needed to hear music after the initial stream. Weird! The streaming of FLAC from the NAS seems to be unaffected/normal. I thought maybe an update may help so when from 2.1 to 2.3. I actually selected update to 2.6 but that must not be possible with my device (I'm assuming due to earlier version of hardware etc.), but that is speculation. Anyway, still works the same. Streaming of local music fine, streaming of Pandora requires a reboot and then fails after the song is complete... If there are ideas for where to go next, I'd appreciate them! Mark
  8. Hi All, I've got a stumper for you. I have been surprised that my general satisfaction listening to Pandora One is higher than the FLAC files I stream. Here is my setup: NAS Synology DS411 Networked via Netgear Powerline to Sonic Orbiter connected via Optical SPDF upgraded to iFi powersupply Streaming with SqueezeLite on the SOSE and LMS 7.9 on the NAS to Anthem MRX720 to Goldenear Triton One The FLAC files can be a wide variety of bitrates up to 196/24. Mostly I burned but the hi-res I bought. The Pandora One audio seems to have a deeper and wider sound stage, otherwise more pleasing. I have not done an exhaustive A/B test but suffice it to say I continue to be surprised that most of the time I'd rather listen to the lower bitrate streaming MP3, so I'm thinking something in my configuration of the SOSE/SqueezeLite/LMS must be off. A while back I increased the SOSE buffer size to 8k on recommendation of a fellow boardmember to solve a problem I can't recall just yet. BUT are there "known" tweaks that unleash the LMS and SqueezeLite combo on the SOSE to realize the benefits of the lossless uncompressed format and higher bit rates? Otherwise very happy with SqueezeLite (I use the OrangeSqueeze control point). Love to hear diagnosis and tweaking recommendations. Thanks! Mark
  9. Hi Nick, I wanted you to know that your suggestion worked! I can now play 192khz files through my SOSE Spdif optical. Thanks to you and this forum, I appreciate it! Mark
  10. Thanks Hannibal, worth a try! My setting is auto right now, what's yours set to if you don't mind?
  11. Hi Jesus, I have the same issue with two devices, Emotiva XDA Gen 2 (Analog Devices AD1955) and the Parasound Halo Integrated (ESS Sabre 32 bit, same as in Oppo 105) in both cases SPDIF at 192 is unlistenable (very choppy playback, but it does play). Do you test via Squeezelite? It seems unlikely both of these DACS have compatibility issues, don't you agree?
  12. Hi John, yes I have the revised connector. Seated well. Appreciate the idea.
  13. Hi John, thank you for the note. I have two DACS that I've tried to stream 192 into via optical on the SOSE, both ESS Sabre. One embedded in Emotiva and one in a Parasound Halo integrated. In both cases the audio plays but is extremely choppy. Both play the same flac with the USB output from SOSE just fine. Some amps don't have USB in and if I can't stream the high rate flac that's an unfortunate limitation. My DAC on Parasound specifically says it's rated for up to 192 using SPDIF so I assume it's either the SOSE itself or Squeezelite. Hope that sheds additional light. Appreciate your assistance.
  14. Hi Jesus, I can't find info on this subject so I thought I'd ask you for help/direction. I am using SqueezeLite on my SOSE and I have noticed that hi-res files (192khz) will not play in the SPDIF digital optical setting. Can you tell me why that is? I am looking at alternative receivers/amps/dacs and some do not have USB. I'm trying to determine if that is a deal breaker for me. If changing from Squeezelite/LMS to another server is needed to play the higher res formats in SOSE then I can do that, but if I can never play 192khz flac on my SOSE then it doesn't matter. Why can USB handle the higher speeds fine but optical plays a choppy version? Thanks for your help.
  15. That's helpful Jesus, do you know if this is known to be a none issues with the Halo by chance? Thanks for your help.
