And you'd be wrong. It's not that they don't make passives — you know that I'm sure. You probably also know that all their higher end speakers are passives. But if you ask them what gives their customers the best setup, retailing in the range from 5-12k € (roughly speaking off course :), they would say that nothing in their own portfolio, beat their active speaker ranges.

I'm not George but I'll jump in and risk getting burned, I think Audio Alchemy DDP-1 with PS-5 up front (a tad more expensive, but just a tad) sounds better across the board

The difference is theoretically the same as between a, let's say Ifi DSD micro and a Yggdrasil. It's definitely there. But is it massive? What is massive? If you ask Dynaudio's engineers and I did, it's not that you can't make a pair of passive speakers sound better in the right setup. It's just that getting there is so f'cking expensive, relatively speaking. But if you can swing it and want to experiment, buy yourself a pair of Evidence Masters and don't look back. Just remember to add 100k € on top to really make them sing.

Yes but that's a limitation of the wireless protocol, not the DAC inside the speaker so it's not really relevant in the context; - The connect box is a side product and not a part of the X D series.

I have the DDP-1 and a PS-5. Had it for a year now. I absolutely love the sound it produces. Super smooth and unstressed. Customer service phenomenal as well.

I also think it would be great to have a little insight on how the sound signature can change by this much, when the datastream essentially is bit perfect. Is it changes to the renderengine based on Damiens personal preference or is it continous optimising the engine pr. measurements or something completely different. My knowledge is crippled as you can tell

Settings are the same. Same chain. Integer mode two is a bit better though.

I think the sound quality has taken a turn for the worse. The highs appears too lifted in my system. Damn shame — does anybody know where to get 2.6.6?
