  1. So -am I the only person who is finding problems with this new firmware? The most obvious issue is that now my HAP-S1 will randomly repeat songs. Sometimes it's the first, or second or third song in an album etc. Just repeats it one time and then continues. But - this happens with every single album that I play. Tried 24/192 - DSD - and various FLAC albums all have the same issue. Other problem is that if I go by artist - and then list the songs in an album - if I scroll quickly the scroll will wrap around right up to the top of the song list again - instead at stopping at the bottom of the song list - which it does if I scroll slower. This is all being controlled from the unit itself.
  2. Installed. Thoughts: 1 - USB hubs are now supported so you can use an external HDD and CD drive at the same time. That's a welcome addition. 2 - Spotify seems to work fine - I haven't tried it myself yet but have seen it on some Z1 forums somewhere else. I see it right in the iOS app though which is a good thing to have for future. 3 - I use a wired connection and there are some new settings in the network connections for disconnect detection which I've never had an issue with but good to have. 4 - the iOS app for me, is still excellent. Simple and turns my phone and iPad (especially iPad) into a great remote for it. *5* The BEST feature - which is one I hope we never have to use which I believe is a direct result if the Firmware Bricking that happened earlier this year... There has always been the 'hidden' menu for doing full reset and a few tech things for the device. (Never helped when my unit bricked) But the fact that Sony now tells you how to get there - AND - THEY HAVE NOW ADDED THE ABILITY TO ROLL BACK FIRMWARE VERSION!!! That right there is HUGE. And in my opinion, validation that they know they screwed many users before and want to avoid that again. In case anyone hasn't read the release notes here they are: Name: Firmware update v17384R for HAP-S1 / HAP-Z1ES Date released: 16-06-2016 Benefits and improvements: Spotify Connect features are now supported A USB hub can now be used for connecting both 1 HDD drive and 1 CD drive The Wake On LAN function is now supported [*]Important notes: If you are using an HDD Audio Remote, you need to update the HDD Audio Remote too. The latest HDD Audio Remote will not support mobile devices running “Android 3.x or earlier” and “iOS 5 or earlier”. You won't be able to operate this product from such mobile devices if you update it to the latest firmware version. If you wish to go on operating your unit with HDD Audio Remote on such a mobile device, please: *To enter “Special Mode”, while the unit is on standby, please hold the HOME button on the main unit and press the POWER button. Revert the firmware to the previous version, using the “Restore Previous Version” function in “Special Mode*”, in case you have already performed the update, or Update the OS of your mobile device to a later version than the ones described above
  3. No problems for me. Using it for at least a few hours every day - no issues
  4. Can someone with the newest firmware please verify if this option is available? thanks. [h=2]Setting the automatic access function to the Gracenote server (Auto Gracenote Access)[/h]You can turn on or off the automatic access function to the Gracenote server. Select [settings] - [system Settings] in the Home screen. Select [Auto Gracenote Access]. Select [On] (factory default setting) or [Off].
  5. And they don't even put in the release notes that this will fix the 'issues' that some players had with the last release.... Sorry man.
  6. NEW FIRMWARE RELEASED JUST NOW I just heard back from my Sony Repair centre"\: . New firmware version 0017050R has been released
  7. It sounds like Sony USA/UK/JAPAN/CANADA are obviously not in sync which is too bad. Should you have to pay? Absolutely not - why? Because of my post here: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f10-music-servers/sony-hap-s1-problem-26957/index3.html#post522237 Make sure United Radio is aware of this forum thread - right from the first post. More than enough evidence to show this was no one's fault but Sony and no costs should be incurred by any of the HAP owners.
  8. Very interesting. Yeah I just got a new unit from Fusion Cine yesterday through their Sony warranty work with Sony - so if nothing good happens soon - definitely take it there and they will set you up since they've been working with Sony on this issue already too. Chances of me updating though are very slim. I'll stick with what I have for now until I hear feedback from other users. Plus - if they are saying they can release a firmware update that will work - and then repair whatever the previous one did that would be great for all the out of warranty people.
  9. Super old firmware version now Man this firmware os from - Date released: 08-07-2014 Well, I'm still not going to update it...
  10. Hey! Yes - exact same problems experienced by everyone here. I'm the same as you in that I updated the firmware right away and it worked fine for a few months and then all of a sudden the issue occurred. Others have updated and have the problem right away. If you can - post back in this thread any information you get from the repair centre, and what they eventually do (repair / replace) your unit. We're lucky that we still have warranty - but for those who don't any information might help.
  11. RECEIVED NEW UNIT TODAY: I was told TWO THINGS wheN I picked it up: 1. DO NOT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE ON THIS DEVICE (YET) 2. SONY IS AWARE OF FW 0016152R CORRUPTING DEVICES - BUT HAS YET BEEN UNABLE TO PRODUCE A FIX FOR AFFECTED MACHINES (And not every device fails immediately) So, the reason for just entirely swapping mine with a new one, is again, so that Sony has a device they can work on to try and find out what exactly happened to it with regards to the firmware and hopefully develop a fix. Since the newest FW has the CD Ripping etc, they can't downgrade any machines officially (release the older firmware as a new OTA update - since people would lose CD Ripping etc and be upset, especially since this doesn't seem to affect everyone. And they can't just release a newer firmware built on top of the current one - since then that would carry over the 'bricking' into the newer firmware. Ouch.
  12. Believe me I hope that thing lasts forever - but they fact they put that firmware back on there freaks me out So, we have one unit that was repaired by replacing the pc board. Yours was also repaired seemingly easily - possibly without replacing anything. So I just phoned the shop doing mine - and they told me again that my unit has been taken away for good by Sony so they can investigate why the firmware corrupted the unit, and I've got a new unit sealed in a box on the way to me and should be here next week. Also interesting that both of you guys had your units repaired and returned in under 2 weeks, and next week is 6 weeks for mine. I'm totally fine with waiting for a new unit, jus find it interesting how my results are so different. Glad it worked out for you, enjoy!
  13. Fast! When you get it - could you post here what firmware is on it - and if there is any information on exactly what was repaired/replaced?
