O.k., I understand. As JPLAY Femto is only available for Windows it will not work in my current Set-Up. Thanks for your quick feedback. Best Regards, Raimund -
Article: JPLAY for iOS and iPadOS Review

I just tried the JPLAY App as an UPnP Control Point in my rig last weekend. Setting-up the App was truly easy and a breeze, my NAS was instantly recognised and so was my ACOUSENCE ‘mu-se‘ streamer when running as an Euphony UPnP endpoint. Plus logging into my Qobuz account was also working flawlessly. I really like the HMI and how you scroll/work through your own media files and searching Qobuz for music files and playlists. Sound wise when comparing to the Euphony OS embedded Stylus-Player JPLAY sounded less involving and engaging, less musically and probably a bit less 3-dimensionally. You will however only hear these differences when listening in direct comparison . Otherwise JPLAY alone did sound pretty nice. Navigating through the JPLAY-website I was informed about a two PC set-up that in theory should sound best, but I could not check this out (yet). Best Regards, Raimund -
I can imagine, Chris. Rockport's enclosure technology is state-of-the-art and probably unique in the whole industry. A stiff, resonance free housing is one of the most important ingredients and pre-requisites for convincing sound, not the only one but nothing without it. Please keep your impressions from this year's HIGH END coming. BR, Raimund

… and what is/was your impression of the V-shape BM Line-60 speakers?

DAC Upgrade Advice, budget $5k
Raimund Heubel replied to chewynuts's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
I really enjoyed reading your ‚lengthy‘ post! You seem to have an excellent understanding of what sound/sound signature you like plus the ability to describe in which area exactly you would like to improve the current performance of your system. This paired with the list of your personal reference music and the price limit for your new DAC is in my eyes a very good base to make the right choice on a new DAC. I also like the sound of Burr Brown PCM DAC chips for their musicality and live-like presentation and can therefore fully understand why you prefer them over other DAC chips. I recommend you look out for DACs which feature the former top-of-the-line Burr Brown 1794 chips, don’t go for less or other. I have for example settled on the ‚dac-pre-reference’ DAC from the German manufacturer ‚Acousence‘ which contains four of these BB 1794 chips. This DAC is very rare to buy in used condition and can exceed your price limit as a newly bought device pending the individual options you can choose from on the ‚Acousence‘ website here but - to me - it was the right and ultimate choice. Why do most audiophile prefer passive speakers?

I only checked PMC‘s German website and could not find any active speakers there. Thanks for the link to their international site. -

Thanks for your reply, firedog. I checked the Bryston website and found the following: 'Bryston’s Active Loudspeakers leverage the incredible power of our DSP engine', so no luck with Bryston in terms of active speakers w/o DSP. I moved on and visited the ELAC website, their 'Navis' series offers both DSP - if operated wirelessly - and without DSP - if wireless is off. PMC do not offer any active speakers on their website. I honestly thought neither of these companies are currently offering active speakers without DAC but I am maybe wrong. BR, Raimund -

While I agree that all these brands offer active speakers do you know whether the Dynaudios, Brystons, Dalis, PMCs and Elacs come with or without DSP? -

I can only echo this statement. If one wants to be on top of Streamer/DAC technology but prefers to hear with active speakers the only alternative for him/her will be to buy active speakers without DAC/DSP built in and do potential room correction tweaks in the digital domain outside of such speakers. There are quite a number of manufacturers of active speakers w/o DAC/DSP such as ‚Abacus‘, ‚AGM‘, ‚Audio Optimum‘, ‚Neumann‘, ‚Manger’, ME-Geithain‘ and ‚Silbersand‘ from Germany, ‚ATC‘ from the ‚U.K.‘ and ‚PSI Audio‘ from Switzerland. -
Matthias, no, in my main (living room) system I am not using any copper USB cable anymore. My artistic fidelity arfi-stream xto streamer is connected via RJ45 ethernet copper cable to my Mac mini server one floor down from my living room. The streamer puts out the digital audio signal via fibre optical cables to the artistic fidelity afis isolator switch. The afis connects via RJ45 ethernet copper cable to the artistic fidelity dac 2 DAC. BR, Raimund
