  1. “with 16 ports running at 100GbE, the SN2100 carries a whopping throughput of 3.2Tb/s” Nice. I want one!
  2. These are the other ones I've tried... TP-Link TL-SM311LM Finisar FTLF1321P1BTL Finisar FTLX8574D3BCV
  3. The impact of upstream RF noise is an interesting question. I recently changed ISPs from Xfinity cable to AT&T Fiber. I switched for reasons of price and upstream speed and wasn't even thinking about any impact on my audio chain. But during my first post-installation listening session, I immediately noticed the soundprint of reduced RF in the chain, wondered where it came from, and realized I'd changed ISPs. It could be that the AT&T Fiber modem is quieter than the Arris SB8200 on Xfinity, or because of a new network topology my audio subnet was now optically isolated from the AT&T Fiber modem. Either way, this is all upstream of my final optical network run, and yet I could hear a very significant difference. All of this brings to mind my favorite AS topic of all time, which asks if we are all chasing improvements to reduce RFI/EMI? I'd say yes...sure feels like RF/EMI is the Achille's heel of all digital music reproduction. P.S. I've tested about half a dozen SFPs. To my ears the Finisar FTLX1475D3BCV sounded best. It's 10G and single mode. One is in my Sonore Optical Module Deluxe (fed by an Innous Phoenix Net), and the other is in my Sonore opticalRendu.
  4. I had one of these in my chain. I upgraded it to a Sonore Optical Module Deluxe. Pretty significant sound improvement—unsurprisingly, there's much less RF.
  5. I've been a huge Thomas Dunford fan since I came across his 2018 Bach album. The final track, a transcription of Bach Chaconne arranged for archlute, is a masterpiece. On this recently-released recording he collaborated with his equally talented fiancé Lea Dunford. (Search YouTube for the two of them giving an incredible rendition of Handel's "Ombra mai fu".) They're performing at Carnegie Hall tomorrow night (Nov 2). Which I could be there! Enjoy.
  6. Mostly recorded in the late 70s and 80s. Performances are fabulous and the recording quality is solid.
  7. Wow, fun coincidence. I saw a chamber music performance tonight. Gilbert Kalish gave the pre-concert talk :) I'll give it a listen!
  8. I've been finding some Hyperion treasures on Qobuz. I'd never heard "The Fall of the Leaf" by Holst for solo cello (not Gustav, but his daughter Imogen). Quite haunting. https://open.qobuz.com/album/ri6tqtnwooyea
  9. I have drawerful of SFPs from my experiments. My favorite is the singlemode Finisar FTLX1475D3BCV. @Reg19 Wondering if you've tried the Innuos PhoenixUSB? I have both a PhoenixUSB and a PhoenixNet, and while I like both, in my setup the PhoenixUSB had a bigger impact on reducing digital harshness than the PhoenixNet. I also recently added a Sonore UltraDigital to go from USB to SPDIF into my Chord M Scaler—seems the SPDIF interface is a little less noisy (no idea about the Holo May inputs). To my ears, Sablon USB & ethernet cables also help tame harshness. best, muski
  10. Stunning, stunning, stunning! Just when you think there’s no need for another recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto, DG surprises me again. I have to say DG really is on top of their game these days. Signing the best artists and producing some incredible recordings. https://open.qobuz.com/album/a1ne9xy8633ya
  11. SACD to be released next week. https://www.prestomusic.com/classical/products/9482335--mozart-requiem Still hanging onto my Oppo BDP-103 for occasional SACD ripping.
  12. Chiming in with my favorite Sibelius No 2. I am not a Sibelius connoisseur, so curious as to other's thoughts about this performance. Audio quality is solid. Qobuz: https://open.qobuz.com/album/ekxceyjshz91a
  13. I found the PhoenixNet really cleaned things up and made an audible impact. But I also think I have a terribly noisy router, so I can see how YRMV. (The PhoenixNet has four ports and embeds a Sean Jacobs PS).
  14. Interesting! Strange that it’s just one port in and one port out. The Innuos Phoenix Net is three out, though only RJ45. But it allows me to have my server and two streamers all on one switch. It’d be cool if Innuos added optical!
