  1. I'm still really enjoying my LS50's. I cant see me ever getting rid of them to be honest. I've gone a similar amplifier path to you but with a NAD c390DD - I think it uses similar PWM tech as the Nuforce Ida-8 with added benefit of some basic EQ features (and a setting to change the amp to match the impedance of the speakers) With regards to all the discussion on amps to partner LS50's. I've tried 3 SS amps with mine Roksan Kandy L3 - 120W into 8ohms Creek Destiny 2 - 120w into 8ohms NAD c390DD - 150w into 8ohms So all around 100 - 150w. All sounded different, so you cant judge an amps compatibility with these speakers by rated output. By far the worst was a Jolida tube amp a friend brought round to test. Slow, muffled and woolly come to mind. Cheers, James
  2. Just picked up one of these amps 2nd hand to replace my integrated amp and separate dac. Loving it so far apart from the unfatbomable instructions for the EQ settings. At the moment I'm streaming through a raspberry pi/hifiberry digi+ running Roon. Only 3 days into the Roon trial, but I'd find the full cost of Roon hard to swallow. I'm tempted by the bluOS module but not sure how it would compare to Roon. Anyone compared the 2?
  3. It doesn't do DSD either, but I'm more than happy with my Jolida tube dac. There wasn't much talk about it on here but it gives beautiful sound for the money
  4. I think that is a SPDIF coax and a BNC connector next to it. Not 2 x rca. It doesn't have a dac onboard so I'm not sure how it could output an analogue signal?. I already have a a pi2 and hifiberry digi+. Just looking for a neater solution and a bnc connection if possible.
  5. Hi can anyone technical tell me how the digi board of this streamer is getting its power? I can't tell from the pictures if it's a direct 5v or if it's being powered via the pi. I'd like a streamer that utilises a bnc connection to get a true 75ohm connection to my DAC. USB is not for me Audiophonics RaspDIGI Network player Raspberry Pi 2.0 SPDIF - Audiophonics
  6. Overhyped by whom? I don't think it was Auralic doing the hyping. €100 doesn't exactly take it into a different price class either, still a bargain IMO
  7. I've been reading good things about the Opera Consonance Don Curzio recently. Quite cheap in relation to your budget but it compares quite favourably apparently. It has a Class A output stage which I find has far more relevance to sound quality than whatever DAC chip is the latest fashion!
  8. If you watch the YouTube review linked to earlier you will see the amount of internal shielding the mini has. So I wouldn't think the plastic case is causing a problem, other than aesthetics maybe!
  9. This marantz dac/amp has just been released. http://www.us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HiFiComponents&SubCatId=0&ProductId=HDAMP1 You could add an aries mini at a later date for higher quality streaming than the apple TV can provide
  10. I've just ordered one of these: HDPLEX Fanless Linear Power Supply for PC Audio and CE device I'm having the 19v output reduced to 16v for my Aries mini. Then you could use the 12v output for your Chord dac. once you've heard what a decent LPS can do for the Aries you'll want one for the dac as well! This way you only have to buy one
