  1. Ha !, yes fair point. My cds will not be going anywhere for that very reason, but I'm just really curious if there's any argument for using the SSD over streaming when it comes to sq ?
  2. Guys, has anyone compared streaming from a NAS against using a SSD in the Aries, and noticed a difference in SQ? More specifically, I'm streaming Tidal HiFi to an external Dac and I'm really pleased with the results. Tidal also has every CD I own (and likely to) ! so I see an opportunity to abandon all other digital sources for the sum of £20 a month. But I can't help wondering that maybe there's the potential to squeeze a bit more SQ out if I use the SSD facility in the Aries to put all my CDs on ? I know I can test this myself ! but would appreciate some opinion before risking £200 on a SSD. I'm not sure if this is really just a general "Streaming vs Hard-drive" question, but either way I'd be grateful. Thanks a lot, Steve
  3. Sorted, thanks Barr. A quick reinstall of DS and all is good and lossless !
  4. Many thanks for this Barr. I have tried all 3 albums and all of them still showing as 320 KBPS. I only upgraded from trial Premium to trial HiFi today, after I'd set up Lightning DS. Perhaps I need to reload DS for the upgrade to take effect ? Trying to avoid this as I had major sagas trying to connect my router to DS Any thoughts much appreciated. Cheers, Steve
  5. Folks, First post and potentially a stupid one, so apologies in advance. I set up my Mini today and have been listening via Tidal. I notice at the top of the Lightning DS app that it tells you the the source of your music/track, ie Tidal and the bit rate. Everything I am listening to is showing at 320kbps, despite fact that my Tidal app is set up with HiFi Lossless mode. So I'm not sure if I'm listening in lossless or not when using Lightning DS. Could anyone one with Tidal lossless just check what the DS app is telling them regarding the streaming rate ? Apologies, computer audio is very new to me ! Many thanks, Steve
