  1. Excuse if it is overstepping, I appreciate John's previous contribution about the upgraded design over MicroRendu. Is it possible for some detail on changes, if any, to the Ethernet receiver on the Ultrarendu? It seems upgraded clocking on Ethernet switch/receiver is also becoming a latest frontier upgrade for ethernet based renderer devices. It would be nice to hear the thoughts surrounding how and if this was addressed in the Ultra's design. Thanks!
  2. Sooo, adding this to my cart over and over is fun and all, but any idea when we can expect to be able to place an order?
  3. Quick question, sorry if i missed it's answer. The new short Sonore/Cardas USB cable - can i get this in USB>Mini USB?

Very interesting, the plot thickens - I have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks

Wow, interesting. I assume this is when using the server direct to dac and not in conjunction with a network isolated NAA?

Thanks, Tbh I havent really looked at it too closely yet as im still getting used to the idea that to get native DSD512 its going to require a new seperate dedicated windows/linux server. Using Apple computers, I'm used to paying through the teeth for anything powerful, so $1800 isnt beyond question if it creates a quiet and compact server that can be tucked away in my office. I'm not overly keen on building a fullsize desktop box(joys of space constrained apartment living). Being able to easily use the GPU with future TB3 Mac computers is also a bit of a drawcard. I guess we will have to wait for relevant benchmarks or someone to try it to be sure of its HQplayer performance. In the meantime i'll give the server builds from the other thread some more consideration, the NUC idea also makes putting it together no-brainer for those less computer build savvy.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what is the feeling about the new Intel Skull Canyon NUC as a potential HQplayer server sending to an NAA? I was hoping that mated with a powerful external CUDA graphics card that it might have the grunt to do DSD512? Any opinions? I know Miska is reccomending higher clockspeed than the 2.6ghz but I was hoping being Skylake generation quad core it may get it across the line.

    HQ Player

Hi all, I'm having a few issues with my HqPlayer/Roon setup. I have a top of the line i7 iMac with plenty of ram running osx. I have got the roon hqplayer integration working fine although I am having some periodic scrambling problems. My library is mostly redbook with a few things in HQ > all of which i am resampling to double DSD - my processor should(hopefully) be more than unto the job and the activity monitor certainly doesn't have a problem and I'm running the files of SSD. Every few songs the something scrambles and i get digital hash and or stuttering coming out the speakers. The strange thing is this seem to be fixed if I click back onto hqplayer as the main window on my desktop. The problem often starts when the display goes to sleep or screensaver comes on. I have disabled sleep and hard drive sleep modes yet still having issues even whilst using the machine for basic web browsing with music playing in the background. Any advice is appreciated. Im streaming via usb to my Moon 430HA D, double dsd over DOP

Thanks for the quick reply, Indeed I did activate Dop to get DSD working with Coreaudio on OSX. So just confirming, you are saying the maximum DSD rate over DoP is DSD128? Thanks again

    HQ Player

Hi All, absolute HQ Player noob here so please excuse my ignorance if this has been discussed as an issue already, I did try and search for other users of my DAC. While trying roon recently, and now testing the HQplayer integration I realised the DAC in my Moon NEO 430ha-d is DSD compatible. I decided to jump onboard with trying to convert PCM to DSD256 in HQplayer. I am on OSX and had a little trouble getting anything at first although now it seems to be working when I select any of the standard rate DSD modes, but when I try to run with the 256+fs modes, the link is broken between roon and HQplayer. I checked and the DAC is definitely compatible with DSD256 via usb which I am using from my iMac. Does anyone have any ideas as to why HQplayer isn't playing nice with these modes? Any advice greatly appreciated.
